Byron, that's where SOLG's excellent, and long-standing, relations with the locals and government are likely to come in. Lines are British. We're talking about Ecuador here and I imagine a company like SOLG that has been there for 5 years and is popular all round will get preferential treatment over a nobody new kid on the block.

Alpala is on hole 69 (reported) and those other deposits look to have many hundres of drill holes each. And yet Alpala is embarrassing them on the leaders table.

Might be worth emailing the company and seeing if they might include a variation of one or two of those bar charts in one of their upcoming presentations? At the very least, get the table updated!

Addicknt, I see what you're saying regarding a 3rd major. However, wouldn't the same logic have applied to BHP, seeing Newcrest already there? Therefore, the logic doesn't stand. 10% and 14% stakes aren't going to block an outright bid from a 3rd major should they wish to do so.

For me one of the most exciting announcements in the next few months will be the grant of drill permits giving the go ahead to drill the be-jesus out of some of those high grade epithermal deposits (Fruta del Norte in the making...).

That will really capture people's imagination, and move the share price accordingly, as we re-enter a phase of pure exploration, alongside progressing Alpala.

Steve G again(3/4 Oct) - "we're also advancing our regional properties and targets, to aim for drilling them within 6 months' time".

Listening to STeve Garwin's recent presentation again I note:

"we'll have a revised resource statement, we've been working on it in-house, and it will then go through SRK and that should be out in December this year".

The key words are "we've been working on it in-house". This presentation is dated 3/4 October and they've been working on the resource statement in-house prior to it being externally verified by SRK. So, what that means is that when they say they are targetting doubling the resource, this is actually what they have ALREADY calculated in-house, and should therefore be the case, barring any hiccups with SRK externally verifying it.

Jerry, definitely worth doing, as this will be one of the most important slides in the presentation. As JW said in his Sept 17 presentation, "if you area to take anything away from today it should be this" (or words to that effect).

GV, must have skimmed over/missed that post of yours. It's not really relevant who said what first. But it is such an important aspect that it should be at the forefront of people's minds.

So, the latest drill results give SOLG 17 in the top 40 - that's nearly 50% of the best holes in history. The majors can see that - that's why there are two of them on board and why another 2 or 3 have grabbed concessions boarding Cascabel.

The table is in the sept 17 Jason Ward presentation. Well worth a look.

Just got up that table of the world's best porphyry Cu-Au intersections and Hole 67 at 1320m%CuEq comes in at No.13, just pipping one of the previous favourites, Hole No.5.

With those kind of intersections there is no way this is not going to be a mine, whether it's SOLG or a major that takes it there. Either scenario will see serious returns to shareholders from this level.

that I'm out of powder here...I'm not willing to go beyond 75% of my portfolio being in one share, that is unless, and I think it's extremely unlikely, we hit the high 20s, at which point I might just have to go all in.
