I can feel your optimism but like on previous posts from Feb onwards this is not a rubber stamping exercise.
This comes simply down to Politics, pure and simple.
If the new moratorium released in March is used to the letter of the law then this will become dirty by means of others with influence not taking to the process that sub-coal will give including the moving of waste into Wales for burning.

I am pro Usk based on the principle that to get to electrification requires diverse and renewable energy stream that may not initially be zero, however given the plastic pollution positive from sub-coal and the energy it will produce then to me this is a no brainer, however politicians generally have other motives.

With regards to Tidal. It is as if the comments i made last week were heard with regards to spinning the positives on what SAE are a world leader at.

Again hope this is an ongoing upward trend.

I hope that you are right but I think it may be a slowly slowly move up back to double digits.
Now if there is some positive news about Usk or other potential conversions then that would be a really good upward trend.

I am assuming that the ultra low price had Usk issue priced in so all being well if the re is more good news shortly then let's see where we go.

This is a pandemic that will keep on mutating and affecting the world.
The emphasis on tackling this will be there for quite some time.

This will need the tools such as very accurate LFT testing in businesses as well as private.

I think (my opinion) that this kind of accurate test will be needed for a few years.

My sentiment all the way through this saga.
The reason I have not posted recently is because I keep stating the same thing without anyone giving me a suitable solution to removing plastics and also getting renewable energy via CC.

I get the environmental slant as would any reasonable person however.

The UK, which includes Wales is creating a plastics problem that is being moved away from these shores or ending up in landfill.

So surely a bridge to zero is the likes of Uskmouth.

My big gripe at the moment as an investor is the following and unless there is a plan we are not aware of then the following is very annoying to all SAE investors plus any potential.

From Feb this year the flagship project has run into issues with other parties. So my gripe with SAE relating to sub-coal is what is plan B.

Is there a plan already afoot to replicate Uskmouth?
Are plans being drawn up should this saga continue or be denied and that is where my issue is.

I agree with the technology and the bridge to removing plastic waste. However if the sub-coal is as per we think a very good temporary solution then why is it Uskmouth or bust.

We hear very little of the Tidal push by SAE by winning more projects in other areas of the globe. Yes we have one in Japan. But that is one.

So my investor issue is my annoyance with not having other coal power stations already in the mix as alternative.

If I was to have a punt on it then I would say no. Mostly 7am apart from odd one or two.

With the UK Government intending to implement allocation round 4 of the CfD regime in late summer this year, the MeyGen phase 2 tidal array is perfectly placed to deliver the largest consented tidal project in the world.

I also have different views on both posts.
Let me clear about this.
How can Wales or even the UK get to Carbon net free without a transition.

Renewable which USK actually is will convert this to something that will reduce landfill and then you add CC it is actually negative and below zero so surely for approx 25 years the plant and process will. E a bridge to more renewables.

There seems to be the same age old argument. Can't do it as emissions are now not allowed.

There are plans afoot to electrify across the UK.
This with renewables, carbon capture, hydrogen and other renewable processes will not deliver what the requirements will be on the grid.
It is as simple as that.

We will all move to hybrids and electricals ref vehicles at some stage.

Hence more grid capability.

So there needs to be a bridge to this not just a we will get there some how.

Please educate me or give me your thoughts because I am lost in the arguments that are based on good principles but are not working solutions now or in the next 5-10 years.

My concern is that there seems to be no good news in way of new ventures or projects etc. It seems to have gone very flat for SAE which is really disappointing given the tidal technology leader that it is.

BBC News stated that the travel will still require PCR test on entry back in UK?
Quite bizarre really.
Unless they are edging it to add stats for specific variants?

With so many of our projects approaching important milestones I thought it would be useful to provide a more regular update. Since joining at the start of the year I am constantly impressed by the dedication and delivery of the team. When developing projects it can sometimes feel that progress is slow but by shining a light on all that we have been up to I hope we can demonstrate the huge effort that is going in to deliver these pioneering projects and technologies. To help bring this journey to life I will be posting more pictures and stories on my social media channels.

SWIC Decarbonisation Project Update

In March, we announced our role in the South Wales Industrial Cluster, which was awarded £20m funding from Innovate UK for a project to explore routes to decarbonising the region. We are pleased to say that work has already begun at Uskmouth with a view to utilising the much-reduced emissions, at the soon to be converted power station, for wider purposes. Delivering carbon capture, storage and usage, would move the project into negative CO2 emissions and create a new industry for the region. We are excited to carry on these studies in support of Wales on its journey to net zero, and in doing so create sustainable jobs for the region.

Planning Update
Following the announcement by the Welsh Government to “call in” our planning application, we will shortly be submitting a statement of case to them. This statement will underline our rationale for the planning application, what we are seeking planning consent for, and reiterate what consents, as an existing power station, we already have. We will also be explaining why converting the Uskmouth power station to run on a sustainable, lower carbon fuel will not only benefit the local area, but Wales as a whole. The statement of case will be submitted by the end of May.

Permitting Update

Following the submission of our permit application and Schedule 5 responses to Natural Resources Wales (NRW), the permit deliberation process continues. NRW is now engaging with internal and external consultees to assess the information provided. The ongoing engagement with NRW is positive and we are confident that we have provided a robust application and are on track for a decision in Q3 this year.
