I note that BAB was part of Team UK who HARL as part of Team Resolute bit for the FSS contract. Damien was one of the shipyards that HARL beat for the SeaRose FPSO. So HARL would be in with a chance the question is do they team up with Navantia or Austal to bid. Navantia may be a better bet as they are a EU firm.

Looks like HARL are outsourcing some recruitment activity. Followed a link on a post by Daniel Fearnley and came to this job. I forgot BAB had charged a £100m impairment on the Type 31 contract in their accounts. So when they publish their accounts you only need to see what has happened to that impairment to see how much they got from the MoD.

The actual resolution is subject to an NDA. I thinnk we can expect parliamentary questions on this. Good bet that BAB got most of what they wanted.

I have just seen this thread on twitterhttps://twitter.com/nicholadrummond/status/1755721300960502117 I do not know the person that posted it so cannot comment on how knowledgeable on the subject he is. Assuming that there is an uplift in the defence budget there is the question whether any new ships can be built in time to be much use for anything. If any of the asks other than recruitment and retention are to be met it would probably need some of the work to go to HARL as I do not see BAB or BAe having the capacity to build anymore ships in a reasonable time period.

Hebridean9 has stated that HARL is insolvent. This view is based on the accounts for the year ending 31 December 2022 which showed net liability of circa £48.4m. However in 2023 HARL was awarded the manufacture sub contract for FSS this is worth £700m - £800m. The accountants on the board can confirm how the payments on this contract will be treated in the accounts. It would seem to me that if they are treated as assets then it is quite possible that HARL is no longer insolvent. This may be the cause of the discussion with the auditors that has led to the income range of £80m-£100m.

In addition there was other additions to the assets arising from the foray into Isle of Scilly and the Aberdeen office which both resulted in new leased properties.

Si_Derman ref 09.08 post the list of things we need updating on is long. At the current rate HARL will need to do a very long RNS to cover everything.

Phillip1976 ref 08.15 post I do not necessarily agree that there is an issue with the lack of a RNS about the end of th IM appeal. The timescale to a decision is not in HARL's hands. I did hear a suggestion that the decision will be in 1 - 2 months. I have previously said I am expecting a decision in Q2.

This article from UK Defence Journal is interesting mainly because it shows the problems with defence procurement. They want a ship to enter service in the 2030s and they are still trying to work out its affordability and what actually it needs to do. By the time they get around to actually issuing the tender it will be 2030. I note that the illustrated ship is a design by BMT who is a member of Team Resolute. That said they have worked with BAB and BAe as well.

Crouchers ref 18.39 post it refers to the FSS contract on the morning of the day of the announcement of preferred bidder status and on the morning of the announcement that Team Resolute had been awarded the contract I made early morning posts. These poss did not say that Team Resolute had been awarded preferred bidder status or the actial contract. However the implication was that they had. In relation to the preferred bidder status there was significant trading from opening.
