Yes, it's long term. But issue is there's not one institutional investor backing GDR. Not one. So question on funding is always going to be difficult for the private investors here.

For the moment though still seems to have the II investors on board, which is a good sign. How did they get to the breakeven point being pushed out by 3 years though? (i.e to 2028 rather than 2025??)

EC, With GDR you have to think in terms of years rather than months....and even then sometimes progress suddenly gets erased.

If NICE really had recommended AIHL in the usual sense of the word, it would already be in use across all NICUS in England and Wales by now as it would have full central government funding.

That's true Slacker, but if Scotland fully adopts that would give us a clue as to what to expect from overseas (including US). i.e you could therefore then assume that they will eventually adopt as well.

NICE covering England and Wales seems a completely different case as shown by recent refusal to adopt the cancer drug Enhertu (despite all other major developed jurisdictions (including Scotland) taking it on).

I really do hope GDR gets some good news from Scotland. Should make a difference to SP for the many sufferers here.

I shared an article on this and it was about using a lab test from Thermo Fisher. My guess is they might use GDR's stroke test in remoter areas of Scotland though. It will be good news though if NHS Scotland fully adopts GDR's baby test (MRM1). Scotland's decision on this will set the agenda for what we can expect from non-UK countries IMO. England and Wales may still not adopt even if Scotland does as NICE is now a very tough nut to crack.

It will in fact be a while before they even know if they have the big green light from NICE.

My take is they need to keep updating the tech in this machine because it's so long ago when it was first conceived and technology has moved on. Having integration capability would be one of the issues, but they also need to be able to at least equal the best machines coming into existence to survive competively (assuming they do eventually get any of their products into routine use on a commercial scale anyway).

It could be less Lionel. One reason being, that once GDR get FDA approval it will be much easier for another firm to get it for a product that does the same thing. When NICE come to finally consider GDR's baby test again, they may even consider a competing product alongside it as well! (Though GDR's bound to have more data at that point).

The longer-term outlook is not good IMO given competition, which is only likely to get stronger assuming US and Europe/UK actually really want GDR's product(s) in the first place, which isn't completely certain either.

It's a very bad omen that after all this time GDR has very little in actual routine use. And challengers are starting to emerge to boot that may have deeper pockets.

At least with pharmaceuticals drug companies you have a period of time (typically 10-15 years) where no one is allowed to copy you're product. But with this anyone can essentially copy it! As long as they use a different design for their machine!

To me, the overall "race" in this field is just coming down for money. The firm with the deepest pockets/strongest backing will end up with the best product and ultimately win. Especially true with AI in the equation as well.

Once GDR has test accepted by FDA problem is that it will be easier for others to get approval. And there seems very low barrier to entry for this tech. Problem is other firms might even be using better technology.

A small US company was trying to do this. Can't recall the name. They had a product adapted from Covid and did one small study. But I just found this, a company in Singapore is now doing it as well!!:
