Stockbuyer, sounds like you came in at 26p. Don't blame you for being annoyed if that is the case, or even at half that figure. Any local legal issues may be a problem for any prospective take over but certainly not insurmountable. With the company now at less than 20% of it's value a year ago it would certainly be cost effective to ensure any legal issues were cleared up if that were to restore the share price.
There are many companies that don't pay a dividend. COP are certainly not unique. But the collapse in the share price is a major issue. Companies like Shell do provide a dividend and so share holders are less bothered by the fall in value as they are always going to be getting their quarterly dividend. COP on the other hand has a severe problem with it's investors at the current share price. Management need to do something, and quickly, to restore the share price to a reasonable level. As I have said 10p was a very low price. At the current share price it is at a dangerous level for the company.
