An interesting 6 months ahead14 Mar 2022 09:36
Whichever way you look at last week's deal, we've got an interesting 6 months ahead.
My reading of the RNS would suggest that other investors can make an offer before 28th March (assuming that Suzhou haven't satisfied all conditions by then). I could be wrong on this.
Between 28th March and 7th September, if another investor makes an offer, Suzhou gets 1st go at matching it. This might suggest that it wouldn't be worthwhile anyone else making an offer.
After 7th September, it is open season again.
By that stage, Suzhou will want to have tied up any additional involvement that they want in Prem... will they be happy to stick at 13.3%...I doubt it.
By that stage, GR will want to, at the least, have started negotiations to get the funding for the mine build at Zulu - he's already stated that he may look for debt to do that but who knows? I don't think that financial institutions will give him a loan until he has a DFS so he may need to go for another arrangement.
I reckon Suzhou will want to start negotiations about expanding their interest in Prem as soon as they can - partly to block anyone else making a move in September and partly because they'll be able to make the most out of GR not having results and/or a DFS... I think GR will do well to delay these until he has more evidence of Zulu results and about what's in the ground in the EPO area.
It's therefore critical that GR gets more results from the Zulu area asap, gets drilling going in the EPO area and gets a handle on, for example, what gold is in the EPO area. It's been 3 weeks since the last assay results so come on George, where are they?
I'd suggest that GR has a lot on his plate with the above and that he doesn't have the bandwith for any faffing about with other projects. I wasn't impressed with his general demeanour in last week's interview and I hope that he now understands the urgency.
I do think GR has been "caught out" by last week's deal and his need to get funds... I sincerely hope that he doesn't get caught out again in the next 6 months.
I agree with some that the Zulu project has been de-risked by the provision of funding but I do think that the stakes are raised in these next 6 months... GR needs to be moving heaven and earth to be in the best position he can be to get more funding. I'll not comment on whether I think GR is up to the job!
