I wouldn't trust any individual offering tips if they are making money from it. If the tips were that good, they would just invest theirselves. A bit like robot trading algorithms and the like, if they are so great, why sell them?

I don't see how it impacts a disorderly market.

We sell xyz for £abc profit, so the company is worth £abc + market estimate of whats left.
Vs
We sell xyz for £abc profit, and declare we are paying out 0.8 x £abc. So company value is divi + retained + market estimate of whats left

I'd suggest you do some googling around dividend payments and the impact they have on share prices. You don't sound like you have a good grasp of what is going on based on your opening statement

All seems pretty clear to me. NDAs limit what can be said. Patience and all will be revealed in the fullness of time

A lot of talk about a divi. Surely the asset sale is the crystalising event? That will cause a rerate. How much they intend to pay out is somewhat moot (baring tax purposes).

It doesn't really matter if its 10%, 20% or 95%, the driver will be what it's a % of.

As has been mentioned, if they intend to retain 20%, and we're selling a material chunk of the business, one would expect the 20% retained to be substantial enough to keep the business going. Henxe the 100% should be significant in size, assuming that the dividend policy will apply to the incime from any asset sale

I could not disagree more, we have been told the interested party has completed its DD. So we are clearly a lot closer to any sale that we were a year ago.
Whilst I accept there is a risk it won't happen, the evidence to date shows we are significantly further down the line to some resolution than this time last year.
