Reading this RNS and the original one from Nov 13 a little more closely indicates that Alien had mapped out a drilling project, but Capstone wanted to do their own survey first and are waiting for the results of their survey before doing any drilling. This isn't the project that will make or break Alien Metals but let's hope that the survey results are sufficiently favourable for Capstone to proceed with drilling, otherwise the definitive headline of today's RNS is going to look poorly judged.

13th Nov:
- "Capstone have commissioned a detailed close spaced surface Induced Polarisation (IP) geophysical survey across the majority of the tenement to both add infill detail to the northern anomaly already defined by Alien and as an extension to historic geophysical work undertaken by Alien."

Today's RNS:
- "Capstone considered that commissioning a more detailed ground IP survey to compliment historic work undertaken by Alien while awaiting the necessary drill permitting would refine or reaffirm the existing drill targets."
- "Drill locations will be finalised following interpretation of the IP report, with provisional planning well underway."
- "The original drill plan designed by Alien may be subject to change upon Capstone's review of the finalised geophysical data."

It's hard to see why the company didn't wait for the results of the survey and confirmation of the drilling plan before making an RNS.

It’s hard to see this as new or meaningful news. We were told back in Nov that Capstone were about to initiate another survey. This says they’ve completed the survey and are awaiting results. More of a Reach than an RNS surely...?

The survey results will be RNS’able, but I’m not convinced this was. Looks a bit desperate.

UFO needs to produce something other than RNS. We are waiting.

To be fair Max I think he's predicted five of the last two breakouts. I don't think that charting has much to offer for those looking to understand price action in UFO. Watch for new news - it's likely to be seen in the price and trading pattern before it is RNS'd...

The best way to view to silver at this point is that it has had one proper go at escaping from the $24 +/- $2 box it's been since late September. I'm not surprised that it didn't quite escape from the box this time, and fully expect to see it have another try during the next couple of months. If I squint determinedly, I can make a case that we're seeing higher highs AND higher lows.

"Institutional Investor" is such a nebulous term, especially when below the TR1 level. Every AIM bucket shop placing references one or more of these. It could be anything from a Turner Pope discretionary managed fund, to an industry peer, to a pension fund. As we don't know who this particular "Institutional Investor" is, we can infer nothing about their motivation or intent. Saying we have them onboard is a valueless assertion until we know who they are and what they are looking for.

Max111 - no TR1's yet. Did I miss any other commentary/info from the company?

- do we know the identity of the institutional investor(s)?
- do we know whether they have added to their holdings since the placing?

Islandgirl your response doesn't in any way address the questions I asked. Why would RIO pursue a JV or earn-in with UFO if their adjacent project is fully utilising their extraction/transport capacity and has many years of life left? To be clear I don't know if this is the case or not, I'm just questioning why RIO would want to get involved. If their project is near exhaustion, or they have "spare" extraction and transport capacity then I could see it would make sense for them to do a deal with UFO. If not, are there other reasons..?

Can RIO make more money through a JV or earn-in with UFO than they can through progressing their existing 100% owned assets? Is their own site nearing exhaustion? Do they have unutilised capacity for extraction and transport?

I don’t think this is worrying. The report states that the Thermo Fisher test will “...improve the ability of the researchers to accurately quantify how people respond to vaccines”. This might be through enabling researchers to measure the incidence of antibodies, rather than just to report their presence or absence as with LFTs.

ELISA tests can be very efficient for laboratory environments, especially where batch processing is needed. All in all the article outlines a use case that is very different to that expected for LFTs.

Weighting will be microscopic. In any case, very little money is managed against these series - almost none in passive strategies. And passive strategies don’t need to own every component of an index in order to meet their replication objective(s).

It was a non-story on announcement, and it’s a non-story now. One of those poorly understood topics (like option exercises) that pops up endlessly on LSE.

Whilst you are googling, take a look at how "net income" is calculated. Clue - you might want to think about taxes, among other components. Then at the difference between EPS and P/E.

"Profit" as discussed in terms of per test is not the same as earnings.

Valuations derived by applying a p/e multiple to [profit-per-test X production] will be materially overstated.

Zengah - when the Oxford vaccine is approved, what will be the new news (ie news not already priced in) that will positively impact Omega’s share price?

Charting UFO is pointless. News is everything.

It’s different for a commodity like silver. On silver shorts, I keep reading here “...they’ll have to close soon...”. Take a look at the daily chart (not the 5-minute chart beloved of some of our resident macro- commentators). You’ll see that silver has only regained about 50% of the bear-market drop since the summer high. While shorts opened since the end of September will be feeling some pain, I don’t think enough yet for them to capitulate. A month or two with prints above $26 may shake their resolve. Patience grasshopper....
