Thanks Valuerebel. I am a buyer of the argument that changing energy needs are a driver of increased demand for certain metals. That’s happening, and I think it is a durable theme. I made my initial investment in UFO back in the summer on this basis, before getting entangled in the tedious pump/spike/rampathon.

Rates I believe are staying low for a long long time. This is a critical difference from the late phase of the GFC when the assumption that rates would rise was widely held. As a result I’m not buying or holding any bonds right now or for the foreseeable - I don’t value return free risk. But I don’t think we’ll see a meltdown, rather that we will pretend and extend interminably.

So I accept the idea that certain PM’s (including Silver) have headroom, but not the general thesis that structural inflation will drive commodity prices. I think it will be selective. Covid related effects in food prices won’t be structurally durable for example.

normbeef - the printing presses were fired up during the GFC. Every gold/silver/pm bug shouted from the rooftops that inflation was inevitable so metals were going to the moon.

Gold peaked in late 2011, at roughly todays level as the fear of inflation took hold. Similarly silver albeit at a level 2x that of today. Iron peaked a little earlier in the year.

All saw steep falls subsequently as inflation remained obstinately low.

What is different this time?

I agree that the USP is affimers and the s&s they WILL achieve..!

Saliva tests address the invasive discomfort of the deep swabs required for the PCR test.

Anterior swab tests overcome this same problem.

The important point is to make testing easier, because easier will led to greater usage AND more accurate results.

"Losing" saliva tests for a deep PCR-like swab would have been a blow. This isn't.

The 12th Nov RNS statement “The Company remains well funded to carry out its exploration activities with GBP 2m (2.55m USD) in funds as of 31 Oct 2020.” clearly supersedes earlier statements. Especially those made informally.

It would have been better if the company had chosen to remain silent on the matter of funding in the RNS.

BBG is an inexperienced CEO. He’s been legged-over here by Turner Pope bearing the gift horse of an extra couple of million for UFO’s war-chest. Theirs isn’t the reputation that is damaged. They walk away with their fees and some free fish for their honking clients to flip.

I hope BBG learns from this experience.

steveknowsnothin - this really depends upon the definition of "institutional investors". It's a loose term. At one of the spectrum sit genuine LT investors like pension and mutual funds. At the other end sit certain discretionary managed accounts run by the bucket-shops, who are only "institutional investors" in a most narrowly/technically defined sense. Shares taken up by the former group won't be being flipped. Those taken up by the latter almost certainly will.

The former group aren't over-represented in TP's client base. Initial investments made by the latter group are typically accompanied with some sort of fanfare announcing their arrival. Perhaps we'll get a TR1 on the 30th to this effect? I doubt it though, as it would have likely been hinted at (without revealing identity) in the RNS.

It's most likely that the placing shares have gone to the usual opportunistic accounts, and will be sold into the marketplace for a quick turn. A Bruce Hornsby as one of my colleagues would have said...

Existing work programs fully funded through to end-2021:
The proceeds will be used to extend and accelerate a range of exploration activities across the Group’s portfolio, including expansion and fast-tracking of existing programmes. Based on current budgets and in the absence of exceptional circumstances, Alien’s Board believes that proposed development and planned works across its range of early-stage base and precious metals projects are now prospectively fully funded through to the end of next year.
Specifically, it can be expected to include a push for the award of drill permits in Mexico to pursue maiden programs on both its San Celso and Los Campos Silver Projects, with additional development designed to further define their prospectivity. A follow-up work program at the Han**** and Brockman Iron Ore Projects in the Pilbara region of Western Australia can now also be expected, with some maiden drilling and potentially more follow up initial resource drilling and potential to test other targets in the licence area now possible. A comprehensive sampling/trenching programme at the Elizabeth Hill Silver Project should also shortly be underway along with further exploration work on the new areas recently acquired as well.

San Celso & Los Campos
The Placing proceeds will be used to fund maiden drill programs at both the San Celso and Los Campos Silver Projects. Development will start via drilling for initial resource data. Metallurgical testing will also be included as at San Celso as it continues to add strategic ground contiguous to the project to enhance its potential and overall holding, followed by an initial scoping study dependent on drill results.

Elizabeth Hill:
Following finalisation of the digitisation of historical data covering the site, Alien plans to use some of the Placing proceeds to update resource modelling and undertake a comprehensive trenching and sampling programme at the Elizabeth Hill Silver Project with target generation potentially leading to some initial drilling.

Han****/Brockman:
As detailed by Alien on 29 October 2020, having reported the successful completion of detailed geological mapping and sampling programme at the Group’s Hamersley Iron Ore Projects (on which it has set an exploration target of up to 245Mt), the Group now plans to follow-up on five priority prospects that were identified for next stage exploration.
For the Brockman Project, three targets focus on the historic high-grade BHP prospect numbers 15, 19 and 20, which the Group has planned to return to with detailed grid-based surface mapping and sampling to support a maiden drilling programme.

Valuerebel... No problem here with opportunistic fund raises. Just not classy to say you're "well funded" only days before. Damages credibility. If BBG wants supportive LT investors he'll need to keep a closer eye on opportunistic advisers who may not share his vision. That is all....

From RNS 12th Nov:

It's not good that the company said this in an RNS on Nov 12th, when work on the placing was likely well advanced. They could have remained silent on funding (as in other recent RNS) but chose not to.

I understand that companies are on AIM in order to raise capital. The placing is probably worthwhile, and looks well-judged in terms of price etc.

However, it's not only about WHAT you do. HOW you conduct yourself matters as well.

If the company wants to be successful in the long run, it will need to raise capital again. At some point it will need to look beyond bucket-shop snatches. What has happened here isn't a good look. Not classy at all.

To answer a few more questions:

- Mere mortals not offered any @1.1p because of cost and complexity relative to the sums involved
- How the SP reacts in the short-term will be down to WHO the "private and institutional investors" are. Shares that have gone to TP's flippers will likely be sold, so will be a drag on SP. If there really are any proper new "institutional investors" who plan to hold that will be a big +ve for the SP. If nothing is said, it's the flippers.

pops1980 - you need to take into account the £2.5m (less expenses) added as well as the new shares issued. Net effect is roughly -1.5% per share.

Theoretical dilution impact is minimal, approx 1.5%.

Not in itself worth crying about.
