RE: NHS tie up....rerate incoming..24 Jan 2021 18:00
@Spacetec - the SP will only hit £5 if there are buyers and sellers at that level. The market price (in anything other than the v short term) is the price at which both buyers and sellers are willing to transact.
Market-makers (despite what you read on here every day..!) are better thought of as price-takers than price setters. They want to find the price level at which the most trades will occur because they essentially make their money from flow (trades) not from price movements.
Sure. Remember the quoted spread isn't set by anyone, it's derived from the underlying quotes posted by the 6 MM's. Having said that;
1) Price action has been volatile, wider spread affords some protection for MM's 2) It's the end of the week and they would like to stop, but... 3) ...orders are still being filled and the combination of (1))&(2) = profitable low-risk business for them...

It is taking time for people to understand the practical utility of tests with high-specificity. LFD’s will be highly effective as tests for the ABSENCE of the virus.
“Let the 10%ers out...” - LSE cliche-bingo in full flow this morning. Just waiting for a “1-trade” and I’ll be calling full house. I think I have all the others and it’s not even 0830....
I see UFO as a way to gain exposure to several long-ish odds punts, any one of which might be transformational in market cap terms. I don't think it is remotely possible to value the company in a conventional manner at this point. We have some interesting opportunities, a motivated management team who are keen to progress and a chance to benefit from macro tail-winds in the industrial commodity space. That's a great combination. I am here for the journey, strapped in and prepared to ride out turbulence on the way.
Oranolio1. Incessant empty ramping of this share has diminished the utility of this board by deterring many thoughtful and well-informed posters in the last month or two. The board has been almost unreadable at times.
Don't kid yourself that you have gained anything from me. I first bought ODX in May last year, and added significantly at 40p buying up untaken shares from the open offer in June. My average is significantly lower than yours. And your post last week, telling us you could get a price on a market order for your whole holding, told us only that you own buttons...
You may make some money here - I hope you do - but it'll only be through luck.
Agreed TKIA - the so-called “strategic investor” was/is a chimera. I’m pretty sure those shares just ended up in the hands of TP’s preferred clients, who have shown little or no interest in holding.
I’m not sure that thinking in terms of steady daily rises is instructive,
UFO is a thinly-traded speculative resources company. The typical pattern for these is extended periods of gentle decline, interspersed with step-change re-ratings (hopefully positive..!) on meaningful news. Meaningful news defined as developments positive enough to attract new investors and their capital, or for completeness to cause existing holders to capitulate and sell.
That’s what we are seeing. That’s what I expect to see going forward. It’s also why trying to trade in and out of a share like this is so difficult.
smiller - a rebuttal that requires proving a negative ("prove that usa does not affect the AIM") is worthless.
No-one is suggesting that US financial markets do not impact those elsewhere in the world - of course they do. But US market trading hours are not relevant when we are discussing AIM shares. If (big if!) there are US traders buying or selling UFO, the opening time of the NYSE is completely irrelevant, because their trades will be being conducted here.
Max - the idea that the US market open is relevant to AIM shares is a classic example of the naive myths that linger on LSE. It’s up there with “1-trades”, “my buy has been marked as a sell”, “they want your shares” and all the other trite rubbish parroted endlessly here to the amusement of anyone with professional investing experience. It’s such a shame, because this forum fills a useful role keeping investors up to date with news and developments on small and under-researched companies like UFO. Posters such as yourself who put in time and effort to share and discuss information gathered online can add real value to the investing community. But this contribution is often undermined by the banal cliches with which it is all too frequently accompanied.
