Criticism here is poorly directed as ever. ODX is a manufacturing company. It can’t manufacture tests that haven’t yet been signed off by the relevant regulators.

I don’t think that’s a wild theory. Optimising news flow for contracting companies is probably a long way down the list of priorities for the civil servants involved in this. It seems entirely likely that this news has broken in a mis-managed and unhelpful way from ODX’s perspective. I suspect the real plan was for Matt Han****’s announcement to go first, but someone missed a step and an automated disclosure made a mess of what was intended.

Many of the posts on this board yesterday were naive to the point of being pitiful. It’s a shame, as their juvenile nonsense undermines the utility of what should be a useful resource for investors.

Bushmaster - that's how I read the various announcements today. The (upto) £374m for ODX is what we'll be paid for manufacturing.

Looks like the volume contemplated is at the positive end of capacity / expectations.

Until we hear some guidance from the company on margin/contract economics it's very hard to assess the potential SP impact of this contract. I am cautious about placing too much reliance on previous figures - either actuals or Finncap musings. The game here has changed since those numbers were first discussed.

This is a government contract and the pressures on the purchaser with respect to value-for-money are very real. My view is that we're going to see higher volumes for longer than many have perhaps expected, but at a lower gross margin per unit. This will still get us to a good place relative to current Mcap/SP, but some of the illustrations posted in this thread may prove over-optimistic.

Clue - they don’t. This idea that the price will spike “when the US market opens” is just another banal LSE fantasy. Put it in the hopper with 1-share trades, limit sells to prevent your shares being lent to shorters, MM’s “reporting” buys as sells and all the other garbage regurgitated endlessly here....

I’m going to bump my earlier post, given discussion here about the rise this morning. ODX’s announcement is perhaps only a contributing factor. There are stronger forces impacting the valuations of companies in the Dx sector today.

Yes - ODX has a febrile and immature shareholder base. Not helpful in the long run.

Timster - that’s a (deliberate?) mis-representation. ODX have “up to £374m” of the contract awards announced so far. It is misleading to present that as the maximum they might receive under the £8bn framework, as there will likely be other contracts awarded.

This is a good story for Avacta. The Dx sector is going to be hot in terms of M&A activity as big pharma uses its firepower.

No. CK is saying that investors shouldn’t conclude the company will receive the full £374m because the production value “called” under the contract might be lower than £374m. Not that the £374m will be divided between multiple companies. Please re-read the release(s).

jollygoodya - you've posted several times this morning to suggest that this contract will be split between multiple manufacturers.

Have you read the disclosure itself? It only talks about one contracting company. There may be other contracts, but this one is only for ODX.
