Sorry, I forgot about India...they have nuclear submarines too. Pakistan, North Korea and Israel would no doubt be able to given the money and political will. I suppose the US would supply us reactors if we asked nicely and we're going to be supplying reactors to Australia.

There's a whole bunch of US nuclear sub powerplant makers..Westinghouse, General Electric and Bechtel. The subs themselves are made by General Electric's Electric Boat and Newport News. So, the US, us, the French, Russians and Chinese are the only ones making nuclear reactors for subs and ships....as a sidenote, now that we don't have blast furnaces, all the steel for our reactors and subs has to be imported (france) which is a bloody travesty.

I know..I was thinking the same..I've got a bunch of shares maturing in Feb but I just can't justify buying more SYN at the moment. I'm sure (well pray) that it comes good and I'll be kicking myself mid year but with the comms the way they are I just can't...AIM shares are an absolute minefield and I'm going to be very, very selective indeed about any future inputs.

Because we already won it....this isn't an order for 10 brand new reactors it's the second part of the order for the 6 ordered in 1997 and 4 ordered in 2016

Badland, the contracts were awarded in 1997 and 2016...they don't get all the money in one go right away !!!!

Correct WATF, it was a tranche contract for Astute attack boat and Succesor missle submarines reactors. so nothing new but at least we got it before Granny Harmer changed his mind.

Going back to the subs contract this was baked in. the only thing that would have stopped it previously would have been the grotty little Marxist Corbyn getting in number 10 or worse and in the future a Labour/Green party coalition. The Greens would scrap Trident, scrap SMR's, scrap GCAP, the RAF and the Navy.

What did you expect Badland? As I say, Rolls had already got the business..this contract is part payment for want of a better phrase. The SP will only substantially rise when we get news about something we don't know about say SMR's for the UK or 2024 results smashing forecasts or an order for 100 Typhoons....

Badland, RR won the Astute class orders in 1997 and Dreadnought in 2016..this 'contract' is a tranche or subdivision of the Powerplants for these boats and already factored in.
