I have been investing for longer than I care to mention and when I started wonderful opportunities seemed to be around every corner. Some were but mainly as a result of luck but the majority crashed and burned. Then one day I bought into Enquest. I had watched it for many many months and within a few weeks I was well in the red. I averaged down and down and down waiting patiently for AK to come on stream and the price of oil to rise. AK started to produce, production per day started to rise and oil slowly started to rise and sp clawed its way north be it a bit unsteadily..Then Trump came on the scene. He kicked the Iranians where it hurt and upset the Chinese and this combined with the debacle of Venezuela suddenly things began to look a bit more rosy. Despite the debt the real sp began to rise to where it should be. I became a happy Spin.
The final reward came when an offer to buy Magnus popped up. An extraordinarily exciting prospect and shares would be offered at almost half price so it could be bolted on.... The real cream on the cake is that to take advantage of the cheap shares you have to buy some..
I may be wrong. I may have overlooked something and as a result this may crash and burn but at the moment I am of the opinion my ship has come in.. Happy Spin

Oh well Brent is over 80$ now thanks to Trump. He is the one who has fallen out with Iran and introduced sanctions. Now he is imposing tariffs on all and sundry who ends up paying. Yep the American people. He has reduced the taxes and now he faces a hike in interest rates. What a good strategy.

I have been notified that my entitlement of 3 for 7 will be on shares I hold on the 2nd. They will then appear on my portfolio and be saleable.. If I wish to take advantage of my RI then I just have to wait and they will take my money on the date

Following the farcical events in Europe yesterday have decided to spend a few days considering all the investments I currently own. Already I have sold of all of my trading account and left myself trading in Isa's. Shortly I will be moving larger property by the sea as property is finite. If the Maybot and the economy fall totally to bits the pile will remain. I listened to some guy on R5 this morning from a company working in the North Sea among other places and he was moving to the Netherlands. Many more companies will hedge their bets over the coming six months. I think Enquest though is well placed to ride out the turmoil so my initial feelings here is it is a pretty safe place to be... The new order of the EEC have discounted history though. Macron has forgotten Agincourt, Waterloo and Dunkirk and Merkle should remember that her lot twice came second. You have to be patient. The RI is not rocket science and after the 26th September your broker will inform you of the offer. You can then advise whether you take it up or sell it..

I think you are right but once the RI can traded then it usually gives an indication as to how it will go.. I feel confident it will be over subscribed and some will fail to either sell or take up the offer..It is about 9 years ago I last had an offer like this and I made good profit from it..

I am going to take up my full allocation but admit to being a bit worried about eggs and baskets. Have not sold any shares in this since the update and will just sit back and watch. Bit worried about the impending BJ forecast in the next 24 hours. My little ship is in for a pasting and so is their big one. It is hard to keep still and just wait but that is the order of the day here..You cannot take part in the RI unless you own the shares so those without must buy or watch from the sidelines..

I have a few of these but not many of their pubs near where I am and I do not drink. Took the old dear for a roast today and a couple of soft drinks. Overall it was really quite good and excellent value. May push the boat out again soon. Will hold my shares..
