about whether the study has adequate sample size /sufficiently powered.

for sure, the trial is still under way, and has not been
abandoned, so yes, let’s all hope that it does bear fruit.

oxford uni has been caught out by how quickly this first wave
of covid19 has died down in the UK. if they had anticipated,
then they could have adjusted by recruiting bigger sample size.

countries will vary in the prevalence rates of virus in the community.
currently, a pharma company based in brazil or russia would have a
better chance of getting its subjects infected than one based in the UK.

( it would be different of course if pharma companies were allowed
to deliberately infect their human subjects in order to test the vaccine.)

issue for the oxford uni people, they’ve given half their test subjects
a placebo, and half their test subjects a (candidate) vaccine - now they
need to wait & see if the half of their subjects that got the real vaccine
do any better (or worse) than the ones with placebo. but if very very
few of the subjects get exposed to the virus while they go about their
daily lives, then very few of them will get ill anyway, and statistically
they probably wouldn’t be able to tell if there is a significant difference
between the ones with placebo vs ones with the candidate vaccine.

for the statistics to work, they need a fair few
to encounter the virus in the community.

strange to remember how helpful and orslega used to
bang on about how evil conspirators were attempting to
sneakily buy this company’s assets at a low price, which
they claimed would be bad for the LTHs... but if there ever
was such a conspiracy, it would have paid pis much better.

dunno, why not ask him? probably the next development of interest
from my perspective will be the statement they will need to put out in
order to be allowed to resume trading, as think that will come before
the accounts. meanwhile i’m happy to wait and watch with interest.

international assets management, though CITIC international
financial holders —> hence, 46% of 51%, which is just over 23%.

but i don’t know where he gets that figure from.

sure, i don’t doubt that there is some relationship between the two.
and yes, the HK entity is much smaller, and not an investment bank.
you may be right that it’s a mere matter of detail, but i remain curious
about it as it is the detail of the ‘relationship’ with CITIC that had sent
them into this ongoing suspension, so AIM regulators seem to think the
detail matters. i expect we will get further news fairly soon — i doubt
they will leave it to august 10th.. accounts should also come in next 2-3
months. should put the MK cashflow /cashburn into updated perspective.

no negative comment implied about it as an entity. just
noting, it is not an investment bank, and EUA was issuing
RNSs about relationship with the CITIC investment bank.

owned subsidiary, but CITIC merchant does not appear to be an investment
bank? - the EUA RNSs last year seemed to imply that there was some kind
of ‘relationship’ (/‘conversations’, lol) with CITIC *investment bank*. perhaps
it was just a typo? - in which case rather odd they didn’t correct it promptly.
