Hi All. I would like to add that physical gold has had its price depressed for decades and that is now coming to an end. Therefore the holding of physical gold and the miners that produce it will benefit from the continuing rising price above and beyond inflation, that is real profit. ATB Speedy

Hi Paddy/Element and all. I am not trying to put down the growing giant that is GGP, and your explanations on risk management are well founded. I am just trying to keep the narrative to a reasonable degree of caution. Going all is not sensible even if all the risks are considered and the upside warrants the call.

This discussion has been a great source of information for folks looking to invest in the gold space and i look forward to more indepth informative posts.

For me i do not look at physical gold as a profit making asset, just a safe bet against bad events and a great store of value. When my target of 40p in old money is met i will probably sell 50% of my GGP stock and the proceeds will go into physical gold, waiting for the next opportunity. ATB Speedy

Hi Element. Thanks for the indepth,well constructed response. Looking at GGP today all its eggs are in one basket (Telfer). You dont have to be Einstein to work out the risk. I fully accept that SD and the team are as good as it gets and have/are reducing those risks. Once GGP open up other processing plants at other finds or acquisitions that risk will be further reduced.

Your point on CGT is ok but for investors moving funds from one sector into the gold space from non S and S ISAs the £20k/yr cap does not work and makes buying gold Britts/Sovs very appealing.

Everyone has a different approach to investing and for me holding and trading physical gold against residential property since the 1970s has served me very well.

The GGP story so far has been one of excitement and for most very profitable and should continue to add value to shareholders. ATB Speedy

Hi WNWA91. In response to your post yesterday. You are correct and there are risks everywhere. It is all about risk control and physical gold in your possession is about as safe as it gets. For youngsters making a start, taking a greater risk is ok as they have time to correct their mistakes, us olduns however must be more cautious.

As for govs confiscating gold, i say good luck with that. Society today is a different (non obedient) beast. ATB Speedy

Hi Element. Your enthusiasm on the leverage effect of miners over holding physical gold (Britts or Sovs) misses one major point. Risk. Mining is one of the riskiest investments whilst physical gold is one of the safest. Also, profits from gold mining attracts CGT and makes a massive difference on £1mill invested and both doubling. If history is anything to go by Britts and Sovs will be around long after GGP have mined out all their gold.

Going all in with GGP, or any other gold miner, is just plain daft. ATB Speedy

Hi Bamps/Goldworm. Thanks for the reply. The west dome deeps @ 3mill ozs with very little CAPEX truly is "exceptional". That alone would be a company making discovery. The opportunities (i dislike the non word "opportunality") for GGP to increase shareholder value are outstanding.

It is good to be cautious about the POG and the possibility of a price crash, as is the possibility of an asteroid hit on the Paterson. That is why i diversify 60% GGP, 40% physical metals. ATB Speedy

Hi Elcobbledore. I find it extremely worrying that folks believe what GS says. The whole report seems to point investors towards ETFs where they can earn profits and not towards physical gold where they earn 0. ATB Speedy

Hi All. The subject header needed changing.

My intention is to wait for results (plural), not just one essay. The new year will see new drilling results and with the POG heading to dizzy highs any significant finds will be reflected in a much higher SP.

Short term trading is not for me and i will see out this pullback and wait for better days. ATB Speedy

Hi All. There is talk of a default in the silver derivative market that could start a cascade of defaults in the whole $600 trillion Ponzie scheme. The whole derivative market is a house of cards, one falls all fall. There is no fire break.

The talk about gold revaluation is gathering momentum. Best to look at it as fiat devaluation.

The powers that control are looking for a crisis, i think this is it.

Hi Droverman. Gold will continue to out shine fiat by a massive margin. Gold is one of the most liquid assets in the world. If i were the CFO at GGP, holding onto the gold and selling as needed would be my goal. I can understand SD stance on this is all about risk management. Maybe holding half back would be a good compromise. ATB Speedy

Hi All. Far too early to think the consolidation phase is over. It needs to hold above $4400/oz for a week or so to confirm. When, not if, the POG breaks out $5500/oz will come in fast.

Out of all the pointers i use to determine movement not one shows a major move down, in fact all show a really big move up coming.
