Hi Toby. If i pay in for 20 years at £20k/yr and my pot goes up 100% i will have £800k in my ISA to take tax free.

If i pay in the same into a sipp plus the tax relief i have £896k. Take out 25% tax free £224K leaves £672k less 45% tax £302k total £526k giving a diff of £274k.

That is a massive win for the ISA.

Maths is not my strong point but i think i am correct. ATB Speedy

Hi Ricardo. Thanks for the reply. The way i see it is the less tax we give to the "establishment" the better. Not just because it puts more money in individuals pockets but it deprives them of the ability to waste on a massive scale. The way this country is run is turning us into a third world state when we should be world leaders. It takes so long for them to act that by the time they do act it is too late. We need a serious trim down of governance and sharpening up of reactions, if not it is all over for the UK. Rant over. ATB Speedy

Hi Ricardo. Far to complicated. I much prefer investing in a tax free environment and not worry about stupid tax bands, tax relief, nanny state intervention. Just put £20k/yr in a SaS isa or just buy good ole Britts. ATB Speedy

Hi TMT. Pension funds and insurance funds are customer driven. If the customer realises that the funds are guaranteed a loss they would be dumped in a flash, forcing change. Much like the central banks trying to set rates when in reality it is bond buyers forcing their hand.

Hi Cheltenham. Ihave held gold/silver Britts in Swiss Vault since the 70s. I have sold large %s of them on several occasions. Once to take advantage of the assured short hold tenancies another to buy into GGP. The time taken for funds to arrive has shortened over time. Today I can place an order to sell and funds will normally be in my bank acct within a day. I have moved £100s of 1000s with proof of origin and never ever paid tax on the profits. ATB Speedy

No one knows what strategies future govs will undertake but the Swiss are as good a storage provider as it gets.

I amprobably a bit set in my ways but I am convinced of golds ability to preserve/increase wealth in troubled times

Hi PJ70. Your observations are correct and some govs are selling gold for liquidity. This is more proof of golds role as a safe haven asset to be used in times of stress.

The measures by India to try and deter the move from fiat to physical gold will fail. There is a very long term understanding in Indian citizens about the power of owning physical gold and they will not be deterred and will probably move to a black source.

What is also missed is the fact that all the gold being sold is being snapped up at a discount by entities that do not need the liquidity.

These tailwinds will quickly disappear as the energy crisis ends. ATB Speedy
