I also agree that there has been no change in direction. AFC are developing an efficient and lower cost fuel cell that is hopefully now working. Having multiple markets for application of the fuel cell is a positive in my opinion and will, at an early stage provide potential customers will a broad range of applications. Fingers crossed that Q4 is the turning point and we'll see a flurry of positive RNSs leading to firm contracts.

Whilst Costa Rica can be applauded for their renewables credentials, their cars are definitely still petrol/diesel. One step at a time. Diesel was very cheap there and they’re not a rich nation by any stretch. Electric car prices need to reduce dramatically.

ReoninV, I fail to see what your reply provides other than a negative bias. Yes you’re right FuelCell did provide copious research and it was generally relevant other than the wild so predictions. That was a good few years ago now and I fail to note any other posters in that category of late. The company is also very different now both in terms of the product development and the management.

On a different tack, I’ve recently returned from a trip to Costa Rica. An incredible country to visit if you ever get the chance to go and a huge emphasis on renewables. Very impressive!

Hi SlowLearner. Welcome to the board. I would do your own research into AFC. There are indeed a number of people who provide a lot of useful research on here. There are also people who are quick to put the company in a bad light. ReoninV that was particularly unnecessary of you to put fellow posters down, particularly the ones who provide valuable research and opinion!

As you will note from the company’s RNSs and their (out of date) website, this company is transitioning from an R&D outfit to a commercial proposition. This clearly takes time and effort and of course, the proposition will change slightly as market opportunities present themselves. AFC will want to start generating profits asap and last week’s half year report clearly shows current direction.

Like many other posters on this board, I have been invested here a long time. The hydrogen economy along with a drive to reduce carbon emissions is starting to take hold at long last. IF AFC are now close to reaching their economic targets then they have every opportunity to succeed and become a major player in off-grid and ESCO markets. It’s a big IF for any fledgling company. Positively, we have the continued support of some large investors such as Schroders. We also have some strong manufacturing /development partners who, we suspect can also see opportunities within their businesses from having an alliance with AFC at this early stage.

This is purely my opinion as a long term investor. I obviously want the company to succeed as an investor so that means I want to see the SP at a realistic level based on current commercial position and potential opportunities. Clearly this isn’t going to happen until firm contracts are in place and signed.

Did anyone else listen to this item ? What amazed me was Tim Yeo was mentioned in conjunction with Waste2Tricity and the use of converting plastic waste into Hydrogen. He did mention converting H2 to electricity and fuel cells mentioned but with 10 years creaming his chairman salary and whatever else from AFC you'd have expected him to be singing the praises of small UK companies such as AFC. There was more emphasis on PHE (not that they were mentioned by name). If I was Bond, Id have been a tad annoyed that Yeo didn't emphasise the need to get companies such as AFC off the ground to ensure the H2 economy has a strong presence in the UK

So, years ago, AFC said they'd stick with stationary fuel cells only. Is this still the case ? If so, why ? We have a fuel cell and we're told we have a small version under development. Why couldn't our FCs be placed on a train or a ship/boat/ferry etc ? I don't disagree that we need a target market but this surely has to be a market also ? Our FCs just need space to house the required number of FCs to power the motor ? If not, is the FC constrained by motion ?

News has seemingly dried up again - it would be useful to keep up interest ahead of summer holidays and beyond. A progress report and current areas of focus would be very useful also.

Spoke to my MP (Vince Cable) on Friday about Powerhouse Energy. He said that when he was in Government he set up an organisation called Innovate UK to help companies looking for funding, especially around environmental projects . There are currently 18 invitations to compete for funding https://apply-for-innovation-funding.service.gov.uk/competition/search of which a few of the multi-million share pots available would apply to PHE, including one that opens today.
I've sent this to the general inquires mail address at PHE in case it's not a funding route they've looked at before.

Let's try not to bring politics into our forum - we all have different views of politicians - they're all in it for themselves at the end of the day.
We need a confident leader who can deliver Brexit quickly and then focussing on the issues that are far more important to individuals. If the next leader fails to deliver on the environment then they will be considered negligent. The subject is high on people's agendas right now and that sentiment needs to continue in parallel with other very hugely important issues such as health, education and building a stronger economy

Good to see that the Swansea Bay Lagoon project is not "dead in the water" following rejection by UK Gov - what's interesting with these revised plans is that hydrogen production could also be a key output from the project - this project would be a battery on a colossal scale with an estimated reduction in build costs of 30% from the original project.... interesting read for those interested... http://democracy.carmarthenshire.gov.wales/documents/s31804/Report.pdf

Great to see some positive upward movement at long last. Some hefty buys going in today - have just seen a £25k go through on HL. Let's hope this is the long awaited and sustained rise to a more realistic SP reflecting the true value of the company and its potential

Haha - I set up a twitter account and within 5 mins deleted it as I was bombarded with a million items and requests. I'm very cynical about all this social media stuff - it's frenzied and faddy. Don't get me wrong, I understand why it's used but it's herd mentality jumping on the next "big thing" and someone makes a MASSIVE amount of money on the back of it.
In fact, whe you get the likes of presidents and politicians using it, it's downright dangerous for all sorts of reasons. Just my opinion and I won't be setting up ****ter again any time soon :) Even LinkedIn has gone so complicated and divisive, I rarely use it these days. And facebook gets opened once a quarter maybe. Now where's my quill.... :D
