The potential for off-grid applications here is truly massive and, if we get more efficiency as a result of not having to frequently replace fuel cylinders then the business case becomes more compelling !

I've often thought how crazy it is that the coffee van at the woods I walk my dog has to use a diesel generator to power his coffee machine. Even small solutions such as this will be transformational as part of the next industrial revolution to create a cleaner and quieter environment. The only negative being that there'll be no distant hum to tell me that the frothy coffee man is there (a small sacrifice :D)

Let's hope that AFC now grab this opportunity and put in place a marketing strategy that exploits this news. I'm also hoping that AFC are well advanced in how these units will be sold with pictures of each model available by size/application: e.g.
AFC Model 1 - 10kw with fuel source option A (H2 cylinder) or Option B (Ammonia cracker). Application X,Y Z
AFC Model 2 - 240kw with fuel source option A (H2 cylinder) or Option B (Ammonia cracker). Application D,E, Z
etc.
I don't think I'm running ahead of myself her - we have a Fuel Cell, we have fuel cell options, we have a containerisation partner, we have target markets, we have a PR company, we have a manufacturing partner(s), we have a website (that needs significant change).

Is ammonia environmentally friendly to produce ? In other words, if the method used to produce ammonia in the first place is costly and unclean then that changes the model for using ammonia more widely as a fuel source (hopefully far better than diesel though ! )

To me, this is significant news and allowing a different fuel source to be used depending on the location of the AFC fuel cell.

Safety will always be a consideration when locating fuel cells and I suspect ammonia will be saver to store and transport.

Might sound a daft question but does for instance a kilo of ammonia equate to a kilo of H2, or do you get more H2 out of a kilo of ammonia ?

You're right MP0818 they are definitely positive news but they're also some of the building blocks required to get AFC Energy to a commercial foot hold. There are some other building blocks in the pipeline to come, hopefully but what will get the SP to fly is a signed contract to supply. I think the mass hysteria from a few years ago (where we most definitely were not in a commercial position) are long gone. Once AFC prove to the market and its potential customers that were ready to go, we'll not see wild swings in the SP.

Seeing posts that try and give a disingenuous slant on the current position can be seen through instantly.

You might also note chippyjo's earlier post which shows just how many shares a small number of PIs have invested in this company - I'm not sure the negative posters coming out of the woodwork of late will have much impact on this body of PIs ;-)

Appreciate the tongue in cheek and I am by no means a "tree hugger" :D - I just think it's time we all got to grips with this subject now, especially now that the oilies are finally realising their greedy days are over and it's time for radical change. I do firmly behave this change will be positive for both the environment and the economy - a new industrial revolution perhaps. We know this already as we're investing in the likes of AFC, PHE etc.

And it's a darned side more interesting than Brexit for sure :D

Hi Mucksy - as we know all too well, if the media get behind something then usually something gets done - causing mass hysteria and over exaggerating certain things usually gets traction from a lazy public (in general). For far too long we have known climate change was going to smack us in the face and time is marching on. Successive governments have swept it under the carpet as the timescales for investing in long term planning and mitigation of climate change effects are not seen to be viable. I personally think government needs to be radical and create a legacy for long lasting change which will improve the world we pass on to our children and successive generations,
If I were PM, I'd like to be known for the person that started that legacy. I'd stop HS2 immediately and plough that money into local transport - bring back the small local railway lines - even more radical, I'd make those trains run on hydrogen.
I'd radically change the way houses are built - has anyone been watching Grand Designs - The Street over the past few weeks ? Truly inspirational - efficient housing and interesting housing !
We can all turn down our thermostats down to 19 degrees - it's easy ! I've tried to do it this year and live in an old victorian house - if you gradually reduce by half a degree over a few weeks your body gets used to it - in fact 21 degrees is way too hot these days.
The government were wrong rejecting the Swansea Bay tidal lagoon in my opinion - new tech such as this would have provided clean energy to 150000 homes for 120 years and kick started a new UK industry not to mention the tourism and sporting opportunities.
We can all play a part in this and we should all take some responsibility - whilst the heavy greens will say no to flying I think pragmatism is called for - no reason why we can't fly to places but I think £10 to Barcelona etc is bonkers - restricting people by charging realistic prices will deter lots of flights and help reduce the number of flights. More efficient engines will obviously help as they are doing now.
Tree planting - why not fill unused fields or open spaces with millions of trees ? - so many benefits to climate, nature, health and well being.
I think getting to all this will benefit the economy as new industries/tech/processes are developed.
All the above is tip of the iceberg but hopefully shows that we can all help a little without too much sacrifice.

If we’re all to replace our gas/coal/oil boilers then an alternative needs to be developed. If we’re heading towards electric everything then we need to have a step change in electricity generation. If we replace gas supply with hydrogen then we have a potential option for small scale generation

Hi TwoCents. My thought process was generating electricity to produce heat via a modern equivalent of storage heaters or heating air con units. I’m just curious about the target market for the shoebox given its small size and high output.

First of all, many thanks to everyone who attended the AGM for posting their summaries. My initial thoughts were of panic but as the discussion have moved on, I am feeling more confident that we still have a company with lots of potential with many markets to aim for.

In addition, we have the UKs Climate Change report out and, with all the recently publicity around climate change, AFC are coming to market bang on time, so I wholeheartedly hope that the positive noises from the AGM are not rhetoric and we will now see real traction this year (I know we've been saying this for years but it seems we now know why we haven't got to that position yet but we now have a optimal FC to begin commercial deployment)

One interesting point from the BBC article today on the CCC Report... " How this affects you....

So the last point on hydrogen boilers - We don't yet know the targeted application area for the "shoe box" FC - could it used in a domestic boiler situation I wonder ? It certainly sounds small enough for in effect micro generation within the home ! Just a thought.

I have supplied my share amount to chippyjo - I remain fully behind Mr Bond and at this point in time, I agree with BumbleB that Mr Rennocks is probably the best person to steer through to first commercial sales - we will need the strength of experience in the coming months and a steady/disciplined influence will be required. In my opinion, ousting the chairman at this critical time will be divisive.

If we see no improvement in website/marketing in the next month or so then our PR company should be replaced urgently.

Hi jbbg123- don't worry, I totally share your frustration and where we find ourselves with the share price, I've been here long enough and decided not to invest anymore of my hard earned funds in AFC despite trying to average down - every time I averaged down the price dropped again so I felt a bit of a mug !!

You therefore do become somewhat sceptical as to motives and possible outcomes, not to mention the seemingly inappropriate wages being taken by certain board members. I'm all for the saying "you pay for what you get" but we now need to start seeing results with firm orders on the back of all these collaborations and MOUs.

However, on a positive note, we have a number of large investors, who remain committed to AFC during this phase of AFCs evolution. Schroders have even increased their holdings as we know, so this is firmly at the back of my mind also.

Looking forward to hearing any positive signs coming out of today's AGM over the next day or two.

Hi jgbb123 - I don't think that's the case at all - we already have a working fuel cell that the scientists have develop and this has already been integrated into a demonstrated EV charger - basically a hydrogen source linked to the FC and a heavy duty battery with a container and connector to the car. So the tech is there already. What will be developed with the partner is scalability - so how many FCs and batteries to put in the container, size of H2 storage tank and how all this fits into the various location types they're looking at etc - e.g. motorway service stations, retail parks, leisure parks(e.g cinemas), work car parks etc.

As we've said before, EV is just another string to AFCs bow with a potential massive market worldwide.We'd be screaming at AFC if they weren't looking to enter this market so hats off to them.
Climate change and efficiency is gaining momentum again. HM Gov is due to release their strategy this week (I'm not holding my breath) but the more these issues are discussed the more momentum there will be for change driven by us, the voters

Any collaboration that ultimately leads to sales is ultimately very positive, especially as we're transitioning to commerciality, so I welcome the RNS. I am disappointed however that this news has been released today, of all days and smacks of the BoD challenging Mr Rennocks and his policy for only releasing price sensitive news.

I firmly believe this policy HAS TO CHANGE so that news, such as today's provides us PIs with information about OUR company. If today's RNS is a change in that policy then please inform those attending the AGM that this is the new way forward and not a cynical attempt to appease frustrated shareholders.

There have been many challenging questions raised over recent weeks ahead of today's AGM and I hope the BoD have the professionalism and grace to address them with complete transparency.

Hi Notes. Then the point you make is incorrect. You get the right people in for the right job. If DeNora specialised I’m in the area that Advanced Plastics have been brought in for the I’m sure DeNora would have be chosen. If my drain is blocked I don’t call an electrician! :D

Why aren't you saving all this negativity/noise/distraction for the AGM and ask these questions and repeated jibes directly to the AFC employees face to face ?

You'd save yourselves a lot of time posting the same old stuff day in day out and you'd be able to get the responses you want directly from the horses mouth so to speak.

It's a case of say it once on here or put up and shut up ! That's my opinion and I've said it once and I shan't be dragged in to a pointless debate on the subject :)

Morning BumbleB - oh yes, I remember DW getting hold of those. Seems a little odd that you'd have a rather bland looking document on your website which faces off to the world. Pure guesswork but if we have a new marketing/PR company, you'd hope they'd have been engaged for a specific purpose as we approach commercialisation. Like everyone else I'm just guessing what AFC have up their transparent sleeves....tongue in cheek of course :-D
