Highlights

• Combination treatment with Tranilast improves efficacy of chemotherapeutic and immunotherapeutic drugs.
• Tranilast has also shown potential utility in cancer nanomedicine.

2.1. Conclusion and future directions
This review provides comprehensive updated information on the therapeutic potential of the anti-allergic drug TRN in cancer. Although many preclinical studies are published, data on clinical trials using TRN in cancer are still lacking. Since TRN is a safe, approved drug for other diseases, it is imperative that large scale studies should be performed to understand its applicability in cancer treatment. Repurposing of such a drug may have advantages such as in combination treatment and may well benefit the patients with its limited adverse events.

The past is the past. No point dwelling on what has been.

We know that NXP002 outperforms Esbriet on a standalone basis and improves care in combination with that and Ofev, now we just await results of the inhaler feasibility.

And just need Ox to come up with some cash and sign on the dotted line.

"After the period end, the Group submitted an application for an Innovate UK Grant to support the development of
NXP002 in IPF and with potential in other respiratory diseases including respiratory complications arising as a
result of Covid-19."

Unfortunately the company didn't get the Innovate Grant.

"An ambition of the Board is development of some of the Group assets for the treatment of Covid19. The Board has previously confirmed, in conjunction with its network of key opinion leaders, that it had started to review and assess emerging academic data that suggests coronaviruses can trigger hyperinflammation through activation of the biological target known as the NLRP3 inflammasome, making NXP002 a potential novel drug target to treat Covid-19.

This, together with potential future licensing opportunities for NXP002 in both IPF and Covid-19, makes it important to explore all licensing possibilities to maximise value for shareholders. Business development opportunities will therefore be expanded, to exploit the potential for licensing NXP002 for global markets, to continue to pursue licensing opportunities identified for the Asian market, and to explore potential development interest in the treatment of Covid-19."

Mars, on the timelines it doesn't reduce much, hence NFX are saying 2029 for NXP002 coming to market all going well.

Unfortunately Mars, that was for the whole company and their entire portfolio.

Also worth noting that their IPF pipeline had already got through Phase 2 human trials and FDA approval, so a number of years ahead of where NXP002 is.

The markets are big enough, Ofev sales are circa $1.6bn and Esbriet were just below that.

Esbriet loses its orphan status this year so Roche spent $1.4bn buying Promedior for their IPF pipeline (PRM-151)

Just digging around on NXP002 related items this morning.

NHS Scotland last month approved the use of Ofev (nintedanib) for the treatment of Interstitial Lung Diseases (ILDs) widening the market from just IPF, this is likely to be followed by approval from NICE and NHS England.

The knock on for NXP002 is that we know that it was recently tested in combination with Ofev and Esbriet and provides an improvement on these. We also know from the initial studies that it outperforms Esbriet on its own.

"The preliminary data from this study shows that the combination of NXP002 with SOC provided strong evidence
of additional effects compared to either SOC alone on both fibrotic and inflammatory markers. In addition, the
results showed evidence of similar or better activity of lower doses of SOC in combination with NXP002, compared
to higher doses of SOC alone, indicating a potential for a dose-sparing effect of the combination. These data
supplement the previously reported study of NXP002 in the same preclinical model where positive effects were
seen when NXP002 was dosed alone and now there is strong data in combination with SOC therapy"

I see twitter NFX has now gone full circle with someone trying to convince Myles to look at NFX, not knowing he took part in the placing and sold only last month.

Not necessarily Goup, the deal done before Anne was that they had an option to license NXP001.

Once that was exercised it then became a negotiation of the license. That is solely within Annes ball park, it does not sit with anyone else.

Completely agree, the time taken is annoying me as well. I had thought initially it would be signed end of April / early May, but to get to the end of June without even Heads of Terms agreed is too long.
Even if Oxilio don't have the cash right now, they could agree the Heads pending funding.

It does feel like a bit of a dilemma. I doubt they are a smokescreen as they have been operating for a while before they came to NFX. They had applied for a patent back in 2019 based on the use of NK-1 antagonists for the treatment of cancer, but they have since let it go. This aligns with the work they are trying to do with NXP001 which looks as though it has superceded their own patent application.

Browning at Oxilio had strong connections with Deutsche Bank and Saudi BinLadin Group, although the latter is close to collapes under $15bn debt pile. I do think they will have access to funding, I just can't figure out when.

Its a shame because most of them will be selling at a loss as only 6 buys yesterday were below the current selling price.
