Bad, I said this was heading back to the 90’s after the results on Thursday a week ago but got slaughtered. Where’s all the rampers gone?

I have a question for the people who claim to work for RR. With this new order for engines from air India, can RR produce more engines per month/year than they are making now. Cos if they can’t then the order just back fills the order book, good for the workforce but won’t particularly raise the SP.

Bad, like a Catherine wheel or a sparkler ( is a sparkler a firework? ). Still too much bad news around to inflate this SP short term. This year, for me, is a consolidation and I will certainly be adding more into my ISA, but only if the SP drops into the 90’s.

Whilst the air India contract signing is good news I agree withSprintRS, this won’t inflate the SP. When RR won the FLRAA contract, (Bell Textron), the share price went up approx one pence, on the day only to fall three pence the following day. Also I’m sure I read that Airbus already has “a few” planes built before/during the pandemic that they can include within the order, so maybe not as many engines as first thought.

I agree that Turfan has inherited this problem from Warren East, but the facts are as soon as he finished his talk to the workforce the SP went down.
My understanding of BP is, they pay 40% corporation tax plus 35% windfall tax to total 75%. If you increased their windfall tax to 65% as you would do, then their tax bill would be 105%, so they would be losing money. I know that’s a simplistic view and they claim back money for investment and business expenses, but I’m pretty sure that if you were taxed at 75% then you wouldn’t be happy.

Metom, I think you are missing the point, yes inflation is not helping RR’s share price BUT the underlying reason this has been dropping over the past couple of weeks is because the CEO has basically said that the company doesn’t know how to manage it’s business. Other companies are doing ok.

Tomaaa, it will be interesting to see the end of year results just to see exactly how bad/good the results are in relationship to the CEO’s statement.

Svend, you are right about china flights boosting the coffers, but I don’t think they will impact the end of year results later this month. And, in my humble opinion, the rest of this year will, hopefully, be a rebuilding year. But I stand by to be proved wrong.

JTurkas, but a debt is still a debt and will have to be repaid.

Metom, I never said I didn’t agree with what the new CEO said, but, as many posters on here have said, there are ways to get your message over. You don't hear many football managers saying certain players played rubbish, but they wouldn’t say it to the TV cameras.

Ian, In their last financial statement in November they stated their debt was £5.2 billion, they sold ITP a couple of weeks later and said they paid down £2 billion off their debt, leaving a debt of £3.2 billion. It has been widely touted that their debt pile is now £4 billion, so up by £800 million. Just my simple maths, but will be announced in the figures on 24th February.

Svend, I know it may only be a pipe dream, but just imagine the boost to the share price if this news was announced.
