Bad, I can’t see the government paying sixty billion for thirty SMR’s whilst in this financial crisis. And RR have said they won’t start a serious ramp up without the government saying they will invest.
I think the government will be quite happy to sit back and wait for private equity funding to flow in, so it’s will cost them next to nothing.
There are four SMR’s being built at this moment in time, in Argentina, Russia and china, these have an estimated build time of five and a half years, the same as RR.
One last thing, the RR SMR’s still have to get regulatory approval which could also be another reason why the government are keeping quiet.
RR SMR received eighty five million pounds from Qatar for a stake in the company.
