So a foreign investor buys a UK business for a £1, pumps some money in and charge's the business a high interest rate on a loan which is secured on the assets.
When the company cannot afford the interest payments any longer and the assets still cover your secured loan,you just walk away.

Alan,i would like to think Western Christian societys embrace innovation but sadly 160 objections to a solar farm which would have provided clean green energy to 4000 households without subsidy has been rejected.
The solar panels don't move,don't make noise and above all in relation to other intensive farming practices don't pollute,almost the perfect nieghbour guaranteed for the next 25yrs yet old folks don't like change.

Land tax would provide the incentive for land to come to the open market.If you pay tax on something which you don't have a use for,the current holder is more likely to sell up.
As for land available,no it isn't unless your prepared to travel miles and £10,000 an acre wouldn't that limit it to the few again.
60 million acres in the UK, you would expect a turnover of land like the housing market but it doesn't happen.

JR,best way to raise tax for housing and other infrastructure is land tax,it works well in other countries.
Like council tax almost impossible to avoid,land is better utilised to raise income to pay for the tax and becomes more available/cheaper for housing.

Land in the UK is owned by the few it's about time everyone had some opportunity to partake.

Lloyds needs a large proportion of the population to be able to afford a mortgage,it also needs the the high street to re-invigorate itself niether of which are happening.We have 3 empty banks in our town alone,if the banks can't move their property on who can.
