Spending on anti terrorism rising to £15.1bn is this a wise use of tax payers money or bureaucrat's empire building?Prehaps a return to traditional policing,protecting the community and identifying local idiots before they fall off the rails.Nothing is foolproof but it has too be more cost effective,otherwise you could end up spending all your money on security but nothing left to secure.

Kier is in a bad way however i woke up optimistic today after comparing it to Carillion and Interserve.No doubt without news this distressed company will take a friday bashing but its no Carillion.It did get a £264m RI away,a house building division with a CEO who knows all about housebuilding,less debt/intangible assets and from what i gather construction projects with less hitches although agreed low margins.As for Interserve their big problem was energy from waste.

Probably will be a few more banks in a bad way within the Euro area but i'm not prepared to be compared with the likes of Italy or Spain it should always be Germany or France.
EU public debt to GDP was 85% which is fairly close to ours but were we differ is private household debt which is 49% in the EU and 224% of GDP in the UK,the EU area has loads of headroom for growth if private debt increased to our rates.
I think it unwise for our debt rates to rise much further but having said that they did stand at 240% around 2008-2010.
For UK domestic banks there is little chance of further business but lloyds could win a bigger market share.

The conservative have introduced a new system whereby 2 ballot papers are issued allowing you to change your mind before the count,ingenious,however i think they have overlooked the fact this would only neutralise the first vote so they should really be issuing 3 ballot papers.

£36 on revenue of £106 doesn't seem bad to me on building insurance.
In the 42 years i've been a home owner i've only ever made one claim for £45 for 7 ridge tiles which came down in the Oct 1987 hurricane and i duly climbed the roof and spent the day fixing it myself.
