Those cunning Germans,hiding within a weak currency and to be fair i agree with you but only since 1999.However 2017 was a year in which the � strenghened by 14% against the USD and has maintained its strength against sterling which is why our manufacturing sector is doing so well. Your assumption that a stronger � would lower their growth rate has yet to materialise with Euro area fig's at 2.5% for 2017 and UK at 1.8% or to put it another way if we had managed 2.5% another �13.3billion. As you say many reasons for decline of UK manufacturing but would say the rot set in during the 1980's when people had to go to Germany for work "Auf Weidersehen Pet",then we started to sell the lot to foreigners and finally lack of training and investment. All of these policies lie at Westminster and not Brussels.

At Carillion it was felt all the problems lay in construction.Then the fine fellows at KPMG did/done the strategic review and discovered another �200m of duff in FM. I have every confidence that KPMG did a thorough review back in September and are also doing a grand job ere.

Hello Bill, i would feel HMG won't be getting any more cheap outsourcing.Wouldn't the underwritten loan to Carillion been the best option.Looks like none of these companies will be paying out dividends for years.

Dodge said he got singed when Carillion went down,i still had the flame thrower strapped to me back. With regards the bounce from 44p to 66p unfortunately i was on some other planet-what was i thinking. Like you only keeping an eye on CPI,will probably be another 7yrs before this volcano erupts into complete stupidity with another CLLN.Until then will remain dormant with sensible companies!

At least on CLLN we had better bounces and where credits due it was because of the hedge funds closing.July 10th went from 192p down to 119p then 2 bounces one to 130p and another to 137p

Far too much money chasing failure(shorters) these days. The only thing holding it up is sentiment (confidence).Current balance sheet has net liabilities of �668m and if the goodwill goes whats it worth?. HMG always say they "are commited to a healthy supplier market"might not be too many left at this rate!

RI up to �700m on standby underwriting-standby?. The disposal of Capita asset servicesfor �888m was meant to reduce net debt,however june 2017 fig stood at �1.6billion and they expect dec 2017 fig to be �1.15b a reduction of �450m,where's the rest gone? Capita is going to survive but probably best to leave it alone until we get some clarity.

Should be alright,KPMG did the accounts and BOD say going concern till at least 31st Dec 2019!! The �700m RI will be enough to cover 2018 maturing debt.

Hello h-hi,does look like another Carillion but it should survive. Once the shorters/hedge funds knock the confidence out of this ponzi then that �2.7 billion of goodwill evaporates away especially when they say they need a �700m RI.. Unfortunately the only way for this SP is down and i'm an optimist!

TPR,a bit late now.No value left at Carillion and i can't believe the directors will be able to stump up �990m so the levy is set to rise. Only value left anywhere in this mess will be in KPMG and possibly Deloittes,hence they are finally going after them. If Government can prove some sort of negligence to recover its losses then there might be a glimmer of hope for us. At the end,our loss was only �61m and compared to others insignificant.
