I think similarly about antibody tests in the UK - the govt has ordered the equivalent of 6 for each person. They also are playing a bit fast and loose with them - the extension of 12 weeks for the 2nd dose despite Pzier saying they would not recomend it / FDA saying no etc.

Other countries will potentially have other approaches.

The Abingdon keeness in it and the expansion suggests that there is interest in other countries as well as the private market - if I was a vulnerable person, I would happily pay say £10 or so for a test to make sure I had the antibodies periodically.

I don't pay too much attention to the buys / sells ratio.

SP is down because we got decent news and then silence so the SP slips - combine with the focus on Vaccines, confidence is low.

There are a lot of traders in this share with exacerbates any SP movement (up or down)

Not really true though is it. A lot of people bought in £1-£2 mark. You have to trust what the management message is and Mr Budd has given some very positive noises but we are yet to see many of these convert to anything. South Africa? India? Beckman partnership? European opportunity?

Sounds like the applications to authorities were potentially bodged in US and India, Africa some excuse about a 6 month cycle and the European deal 2 months on and nothing.......

Playing devils advocate.

The antibody test tests if you have antibodies or not - no necessarily how strong etc.

The vaccines have been given an efficacy of 90-95% (Azn 70% for now) - if you give everyone the vaccine you can assume that everyone either has the antibodies needed (majority based on efficacy) or does not and that would show in the antibody test.

Therefore, I think the antibody tests will not be actively used until the 2nd vaccine will be needed - and that will be based on analysis of how long the antibodies last in the system. I assume they will focus on the vulnerable for monitoring and checking.

Where the UKRTC will do well (UK wise) I suspect will be people wanting to home test to monitor themselves.

This seems to be the govt plan - not sure if that was the case at the beginning when the UKRTC was created - I suspect a lower efficacy rate was expected and thus antibody testing was seen as being needed (obviously the main UK vaccine - Azn - the efficacy level is anywhere between 62% and 90% - the new trials will provide clarity on that).

This share has been a hot mess for months - nothing our £400k salaried leader has come to fruitition however he spins it. An EU deal close.........almost 2 months later zip, nothing, silence. Same on everything else.

My investment is 60% down and giving it two more weeks until I go elsewhere.

sorry, my poor writing - thats what I meant that there are loads of antigen and antibody testing contracts for as you say, big numbers and 2 years or so.

Nothing official, but the approach seems to be to roll out to everyone regardless and then test thereafter.

I personally don't think it was ever the plan to test prior to the vaccine - tell that by the production numbers.

Quite where it will fit in will be interesting - I can see a private use so you and I can test ourselves if we chose to check we have the antibodies. The govt usage though? Not sure, logically it should be used to indicate to when the 2nd vaccination is needed you would imagine, but again, they may go with a one size fits all approach of saying everyone gets it after say 9 months.

Remember, the UK's vaccine Axn is pretty cheap and has a larger supply. Maybe if we were using a more expensive, less widely available vaccine, the test may be used to limit the usage of the vaccine where not needed, but I am just guessing!

the testing contracts on Bidstats show that - they are focused on the vaccine message - but I suspect in a month or so, the testing also will be part of the message.

Antibody test will be to show how long the antibodies last - govt basicaly want everyone to be innoculated - then figure out when they need the next one (my opinion!)
