The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
This has just appeared on the Telegraph - "Meet the man betting on antibody tests to ease the vaccine shortage"
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/2021/01/30/meet-man-betting-antibody-tests-ease-vaccine-shortage/
The £100m contract - any idea how many tests that works out at roughly? must be 15-20m?
Cost to govt around £5 per test maybe - trying to work back from the profit but its all finger in the air stuff!!
ODX profit = 80p
Abingdon = 1.60p
Ciga. = 80p
Total profit = £3.20
Manufacturing cost £1.80
Surely a great return when you consider the UKRTC pays tax on profit whearas abbot and roche are foreign and presumably more expensive?
The new vaccine, Novavax isn’t approved yet or available until h2 2021 - already have two vaccines being rolled out.
More interesting is the drops in efficacy for the mutations.....

“This is going to rocket tomorrow Contract awarded to Deloitte on behalf of ODX.”
I don’t see the link ‘contract awarded to Deloitte on behalf of ODX’
Trying to stay balanced, but until we are confirmed as supplying the UKGOV with the test, then this does not relate to us.
There is nothing solid to say that if Mologic get the contract, then ODX having the same test will neccesarily benefit.
Lots of pointers to that, but unless RNS’ed its just speculation.
Thats a decent wedge - the SP was strange today, down a lot of the day at 8.5% and then improving - possibly a large buy being worked? If you have the funds, now is a good time for a punt, we are at the business end where the dots get filled in....
ha - good analogy!
The MHRA have advised that the approval is based on DHSC providing the thumbs up for home use - get that, get the MHRA approval. Thus, I think it has been held up for political reasons rather than anything else (or the extra testing is to add more protection from any Good Law Project trouble!)
I sometimes think that Abingdon have been trying to apply pressure to the govt - the sales web page, the 'interest from 27 countries', the FDA request for approval etc.....
Agreed - its gone from one extreme to another with the Omega tweeting!
Exactly - we have had a great few days - people holding only from Dec / Jan have almost a bag - so they have done well, sell before news and make more money elsewhere - happy days
Considering on Tuesday we touched 53p, happy with a rise from there of about 32%!
Hopefully another good week next week - feels like a £1 is not too far away.....
Remember May 2020 when we went from low 50's to 91p in a day (until the speeding ticket)................never be surprised to see that again (the rise, not the speeding ticket!)
Then sell Blacksheep - the signs are positive.
Any investments have risk - the oil company that may or may not find oil, the Bitcoin miner that may have the price of Bitcoin drop, the biology company where the new medicene did not work. ODX has a lot going for it - previous to today, a lot was Twitter rumours and dots - today some of this was partially confirmed, the Deeks stuff rebutted by scientists, the uplift to manufacturing on track etc - the risk is reducing......
agreed - we are still below the open price on the day of the Pfizer vaccine amount, though entiment feels positive and we know we have some good info coming in in a short time period, what Colin has promised so far is coming true - feeling positive.....
Its bigger than just the 75m
- We get the 75m and it means MHRA will be approved
- We will know also the full UKGOV order
- We will also be allowed to sell any capacity above the UKGOV order
- Abingdon plan to manufacture above the UKGOV order - the UKGOV makes money from those sold - we then make 25% of the remaining profit
I wonder if the capacitty beyond the April date will be increasing further - what with UK interest (remember the 2m per day is UKGOV only - not including private sector where demand will be even higher).
Colin hinted at the UK site being looked at - maybe a further increase in capacity beyond April?
Punit, if I ever leave this share, I will miss your comments
2m a day is 'just' the government - imagine the private sector also.....
ODX can contribute 1/7th of that based on the April production numbers.....
ha - its not a real spread - its a negative -11% - its while the auction is occurring.....
The first tweet of Abingdon refernced the Azn vaccine.
Second one was vaccines generally
The plan with ABC-19 is to send out to all people, not only those who have had the Astra Zenneca jab......
traders - bit of news and this will jump up - maybe not to recent highs but imagine a big deal announced - the SP will go crazy.
The share is at 39p - this is ground floor level with a binary outcome - I am tempted to have a small punt........then remember I have already lost thousands on this share but if I hadn't, I would be certainly tempted......
