If you don't like Trump, you can vote him out in 3-4 years. If you don't like Xi, you can never ever vote him out. And let me make you familiar with China's strategy of "Island hopping" -- it is conquering the world, island by island. First, Macau was taken from Portugal. UK got humiliated over Hong Kong. Go and see how they feel in Tibet. Or Xinjiang. Taiwan is next. Then, Japan, Philippines, and Australia. The Aussies are not buying 8 nuclear submarines for no reason 😉

Globalisation just means "outsource to China". And China is a brutal communist dictatorship. It's not a democracy (and never will be). That's why Trump wants to de-Chinafy America. Rightly so.

As for the economic demise of America -- US GDP per head currently sits around $90k. EU around $65k. UK around $64k. China around $28k. The US is not going anywhere. It is by far and away the richest country on planet Earth. The wealth gap between America and every other region worldwide is beyond enormous.

The reality is, China has been quietly restricting Hollywood movies for years already. It's precisely the non-tariff barriers that Trump is talking about. For example, over-zealous edits by CCP state censors to deliberately make US films unwatchable or run disjointed storylines. Hollywood had about 80% China cinema market share in 2010 -- today it's down to 5%, long before the CCP's theatrical announcement.

The Tories spent the first 10 years clearing up the Labour / Blair mess of out-of-control spending and debt (2010-2020). Then, the Tories had to weather the Covid onslaught (2020-2021). Once those two disasters were out of the way, the Tories were then able to focus on their core strengths of the economy. And it left the UK with record exports, ultra-low unemployment, and the best G7 GDP growth worldwide (2022-2024). A fine legacy.

The Tories made the UK the world's fastest-growing major G7 economy by H1 2024, with the second-lowest debt level, unemployment near an all-time low, and the world's 4th largest exporter, overtaking France. That's all gone, now. Labour in 2025 has sent the UK barrelling toward recession, the stockmarket has cratered, wrecking workers' pensions, while employers face a tsunami of growth-sapping tax and red tape. It's a disaster.

To be fair, when you look at the ocean and ongoing tsunami of red tape and bureaucracy and overtax already in the UK and EU, a few new tariff rules from the US are a nothing burger. For example, the UK tax code alone runs to a preposterous 10 million words and 21,000 pages, 12 times longer than the complete lifetime works of Shakespeare. Rayner introduced thousands more pages of state overreach for "workers' rights" just last week. Not to mention the colossal NI tax raid this month. The real clowns are not in the US -- they're here, at home 👍

Today, in 2025, it's global network has been picked apart by bankers, and is barely worth £15b. Now it just sells overpriced dataplans on cr*p networks where you can't get a signal half the time.

Yes, it is +145%. Its 125% trade tariff + 20% "fentanyl tax" on top. The S&P has reacted fairly softly so far.

Today is for profit-taking. A lot of Nasdaq / S&P traders made 1 year of gains in 1 day. Will want to lock in the cash. Only a positive update from China would change things.

The FTSE always underperforms the S&P. London (sadly) has too much stamp / divvy tax and just doesn't have enough liquidity for hyper-gains, anymore.
