Interesting take on uranium /America16 Oct 2025 20:34
Moving along but an interesting event that caught my eye is on October 23rd, the DOE will hold a public meeting to outline how it plans to use the Defense Production Act to rebuild the U.S. nuclear fuel supply chain. The meeting will mostly focus on forming voluntary industry agreements that coordinate uranium mining, conversion, and enrichment under federal oversight & it will also mark a major step toward domestic HALEU production and energy security which will likely lead to potentially more funding, regulatory support, & of course administration backing like we’ve already seen.
With the upcoming meeting along with the general support for nuclear by the administration (Seems clear the next govt. stake / initiatives will be for making uranium a national security) as a method of power generation (Army by ‘28 is planning to go this route at certain bases), I’m going to look to get long both UROY (150bps) & ASPI (150bps).
Both are two very different companies but UROY specifically is essentially a pure-play uranium royalty and investment company that provides exposure to the global uranium market without directly operating mines. UROY essentially acquires royalties, streams, and equity interests in uranium projects thus earning income as partner mines produce, whilst also holding and trading physical uranium to benefit from rising spot prices. This model allows UROY to capture upside from the nuclear energy cycle with lower operational risk and capital intensity than traditional miners.
ASPI however is a much different company & more speculative & they recently just had an offering done at 12.2ish / share & the stock as of now is trading below within the 11s. ASPI looks appealing as they essentially have their hand in every important area… They are developing enrichment technologies for high-value isotopes used in nuclear energy, semiconductors, and medical imaging. The company operates PET Labs in South Africa, producing medical isotopes such as Fluorine 18 and Molybdenum 100, and recently expanded into the United States through the acquisition of a radiopharmacy in Florida, which is expected to enhance ‘26 revenue and earnings & is a recent +ve catalyst. ASPI also recently signed its largest Silicon 28 contract to date with a U.S. semiconductor customer, with deliveries beginning in ear
