You will have to excuse my cynicism or even scepticism when it comes to company news releases as sometimes they don't match up. I sometimes feels that they think we are not capable of remembering, or able to look up, previous statements. That or they rely on a fresh churn of investors that don't look that deeply. Anyway, that appointment was from 2021 yet in the latest RNS regarding the first US contract in November it says, " less than six months of establishing our business in Florida." So, a good example of what little info there is, doesn't even match up. I'm sure somebody may be able to fill in the gaps or we will have to wait for ONLYMEE's missus to get over there and report back. :)

I posted a pic of one of them last week as a joke, as you can see the yard in the picture behind them. There is a lay-by on the road just there and it's where I normally go through onto the cycle path to get a decent view of the yard for a good nosey. If they have the big doors open you can see right in with some nocliers. Not that would, Mr MOD. ;)

They belong to the Royal Marines based at Chivenor. That's their normal place to moor up.

Would the new ferry be going to Appledore? I thought that they had another freight vessel in that they were fixing up. Something to go along with the Terramare and Valonia.

From yesterday in Newlyn. Maybe Appledore too busy to fit here in, in house, but then Newlyn is just down the coast from the home port of Penzance.

"H&W Terramare, late last night she was hauled up the slipway for her annual maintenance programme, this year will see her change the livery from KMS to H&W, also some other small jobs."

It's always been said that the new (to H&W) ferry would go to Belfest for a it's refurb/ paint job.

Makes no mention of, "The Season", so as far as I could see you are just assuming. Be that a fair assumption or not, or just to prove a point over another poster, I wouldn't like to guess or assume.

Yeah, I did hear something about one being "fixed up"at Appledore a while back. Been trying to get get a bit more info but still away so not up on local gossip/news.

In all honesty, this is not the SSG's message board and as we are no longer in the picture for the build then they are of no more importance than BAE or Bab.ocks. They are now just the competition. Saying that, I've just read their latest newsletter in which it just states, "in 2026"

Further on, it says, "We have been working closely with Piriou developing and finalising the vessel designs ready for building to commence in June."

Just need to say that was just the view of the admin bloke from that facebook page and maybe a bit cynical about the whole thing. So, not to be relied as fact, regarding the vessel mentioned and maybe not the whole story. Didn't listen to the radio broadcast, fwiw . So if anyone did, and can correct what he posted, it would be interesting to hear the jist of what JW said.

2. A vessel will be there on 1st May

3. Probably starting with smaller vessels

4. Freight will be the focus……

5. Inter island vessel sounds like it’s on the cards

6. Reading between the lines - the whole focus was on fast ferry and catamarans with hand luggage only -

If they are going down the DAMEN 4212 as a type or option route then they will need all the help they can get as they will only be able to run 65% of the summer season due weather limits which for this vessel would be 2 mtr sig wave height - definitely not 3 as was declared

Cancelling early for people that have booked accommodation etc will just automatically push people to ISSG - so not sure of the thinking there..

Bottom line is plans still tweaking - vessel not fixed yet - but if I was a betting man a small passenger vessel will probably be there in May but as to what it is how fast it goes and how many it carries is anyone’s guess - but it still doesn’t address the effort and cost of broadcasting to the South West and UK/EU markets that will need to be tapped to make it financially viable "

Unless there have been some major advancements in solution mining that I'm not aware of, it was always stated that the process of making a cavern would take about two years. Plus a bit more to then commission them.
