You are probably right Bannor, although I think many people have either sold up and cut their losses, or like me averaged down considerably. I think we were all pulled in too early, articles in Moneyweek helped propel the share price amogst other things. This did help the company raise money though, which means we have a far greater range of investments, and investments that are a lot closer to production than what we had around 2015. Now the question really is, looking at our investments, and out CEO�s vision of where the battery market is heading, is now a good time to be buying KDNC? I think so.

The jv areas have higher concentrations in a lot of the ree�s though. And, we do have JV areas with mining licences, and a huge area left to explore within our JVs. Not bad to say we are free carried.

Ahh, yes very true. I think Tony Seba has adjusted that in his presentations. I am sure he just used to quote 95% of miles will be driven by Taas. It almost implied we wouldnt own cars anymore. It never stood with me as I dont think it takes into account the fact people love their cars. It remains to be seen if future generations will hold such an attachment to them. Car ownership at 40% is certainly more credible, but as we know, they are parked up 95% of the time, so the big miles will be done by the fleet companies. I suppose in that sense it is not so disruptive to car ownership, but certainly disruptive to public transport.

It just doesnt seem possible does it Ob. �5k for a 200mile ev! But tyen history is littered with similar technology cost curves so I dont see why not. The only thing that I see that maybe does not make sense, is if a car like that is so cheap to buy, why will Taas take off?

Well I do enjoy reading your posts, so i will have a look through. And yes, I believe boiler plus is for the domestic market. The easiest way to get the boilers to comply seems to be to just fit the manufactures, or some form of smart controls (nest etc)

No, no condensing boilers have flue heat recovery built in that I know of. Worcester Bosch do a kit, which fits on top of the boiler. They are expensive though, and I have never seen one fitted. There is a new boiler regulation out called Boiler Plus, afffecting combis. Using flue heat recivery is one way to comply, but there are far cheaper methods, and given the choice I cant see many domestic customers going for that option. Commercial is a totally differnt ballgame though, as they tend to look at running costs more, but I dont have a lot of experience in that area, mainly domestic. I am going to sit down and have a look at it all later though. I now remember I did register an interest with the company, a couple of years ago now probably, but I never heard anything back. I will maybe have to re register as I am sure they are much further down the development line now.

The other thing they are up against, is that modern gas boilers are so efficient at what they do. And you can already get an extra heat recovery unit to fit on the flue to heat hot water, which will mean the boiler can run at near 100% efficiency. I think the biggest argument for mCHp is that the electrical grid is so inefficient, why not just make the electricity where it is needed, then use the waste heat to heat your building. I really hope they take off.

Hi Ob, yes like I just said over on the other board, it is no brainer if they can get them to work with the same sorts of reliability as traditional gas boilers. Will they be cost effective in small domestic houses? I am not sure as the amount of heat the average house needs maybe isnt big enough to generate the amount of electricity required to pay the boiler back. But in commercial applications, care homes etc, the Heating is often running 24-7 and they like to keep those places warm. I think it could work. Probably the biggest hurdle is trying to persuade people to invest into new technologies. I must admit I havent looked at these inspirit boilers much, but I presume they are using a stirling engine. The well known manufacturer Baxi built one of a similar design, and did a trial period with British Gas fitting them roughly 10 years ago with a similar design, but I dont think many were fitted.

Yes Obs, I have noticed the other board you post on. I think it is a no brainer if they can get it to work. I was very intersted in the Flow boiler, went to see them and had a look at the boilers, but alas it has come to nothing. I think modern highly insulated houses should use electric heating. Older housing stock, it just doesnt work (at the moment). I think a lot of manufacturers are working on hybrid boilers, which could well bridge the gap until the heat pump is better, or electricity becomes cheaper, and i see no reason why it wont once all these wind turbines and solar panels start producing some serious energy (backed up by huge li-ion batteries of course :-)).

I think there are cases for petrol and other fuels still Barksy. But the point is that 90% of miles are going to be done by ev autonomous vehicles. People will still own cars though. I think Tony Seba has changed that part in his most recent presentations. He used to imply car ownership will be gone, now he says that 40% will still be owned, but willl sit idle 95% of the time. The heavy miles will be done by the fleet cars, and they will have to be electric to be competitive. As for heating Jimb, yes you are right. Paradoxically, in this country electricity is so expensive compared to gas, yet the other way round with petrol/diesel. This is why the hyped up heat pumps wont work on economics only. Not only is the upfront cost prohibitive compared to a gas or oil boiler, even at their most efficient, they only move 3kw of heat for every 1kw of electricity put in, meaning the gas or oil boiler is still cheaper to run. Especially in our draughty badly insulated houses. Good for me cos I am a gas and oil heatng engineer!

Totally agree Jimb2. Hybrids have their place for now, but will not soon. I drive a leaf, and with its poxy 100 mile range it really is no issue. Charge on a night, and it is good for 99% of my journeys. I usually cover about 80 miles a day. In fact i spend less time waiting to charge than I spent queuing at fuel stations. Once evs are doing 200 miles and are cheap, its game over for Ice.

The problem with using batteries to heat homes is they are not very energy dense. An EV gets round this problem because it competes against an internal combustion engine which is hopelessly in efficient (circa 30%) at converting the chemical energy stored in fuel, to movement. Unfortunately for heat8ng our homes, modern gas and oil boilers are extremely efficient ( circa 90% plus) at transfering the chemical energy into heat. Basically the article states that batteries will be used for light transport, hydrogen will be used for heating. Infact Northern Gas Networks are already experimenting with hydrogen in their pipelines in sheffield I believe. Believe it or not, back in the days of town gas made from coal, the gas in our pipelines had a high hydrogen content in it.
