Toyin, the SP and spread have hardly changed over the past 2-3 days since I warned not to jump to conclusions about the 6% rise at the start of the week. But it's a fact that they have taken 905,000 shares at 18.29p average - and not surprising that they didn't want to increase their exposure while they worked the order.

Toyin, plenty of buyers (including me) just biding their time, waiting for the persistent seller/s to finish. Plenty of appetite but dinner can wait.

Meanwhile, MM obviously happy to take 905,000 at 18.29p so the trend is upwards. One day soon we should see a dump of 2-3m and that will be the end of it imho.

Belgrano, one swallow doesn't make a Spring. Give it a week or two before jumping to conclusions. The big seller/s have been in control here and they could just be taking the day off. Cavendish have all the answers.

But you can't believe the buy/sell tags because the MM keeps manipulating the spread. Looked at in context, it wasn't feasible for today's 08:15:34 trade to be a "Buy" at 18.00p and nor was it feasible that the 08:43:42 trade at 18.066p was a "Buy". Just ignore the reported Buys/Sells and go by the SP which is the only reliable indicator for us muppets and is fortunately rising for the moment.

This is an interesting and well-written read from Croda about the opportunities and challenges presented by biotechnology in the personal care market. It was written in 2022: hopefully some of the challenges have been overcome by now.

That's interesting, thank you. But it doesn't clear up the confusion given the two prior buys at 18.50p.

It looks to me as though the displayed SP and spread are being manipulated to enable 50,000 sells to be tagged as buys. It makes no sense that two small buys went through at 0830 today at 18.50p, followed by larger trades at 18.06p which were also tagged as buys. The spread has been stuck at 17.50-18.50p for days when it should presumably be 18.00-19.00p to allow the 18.06p trades to be correctly tagged as sells.

I presume Cavendish is the market maker.

There's nothing wrong with raising cash on the markets of course - that's the main reason companies list on AIM. It's only wrong when done badly, as exemplified by SBTX in the past. If the streets really are paved with gold, as SA tells us, then SBTX should not have to issue new shares at any discount to the prevailing SP.

You may be right AquaeSulis01 but neither of the acquisitions was making a real profit (forget EBITA) when Skin bought them. It may be that the synergistic benefits of the acquisitions will be enough to change that but my guess is that BioTech in particular will need investment for new plant and possibly more people.

Imho, the new acquisitions could need capex to expand/develop their operations and given that neither of the new businesses was likely to be funding this from profits, I expect SBTX to be raising funds over the next couple of months. SA assured us via RNS in November that SBTX wouldn't need to raise cash for working capital but investment capital for either or both of the new acquisitions would be a different kettle of fish.

If the Croda deal is solid enough, he would hopefully be able to leverage it to borrow from the banks but it's possible that more dilution is on its way. And if new shares are to be issued, the price will be very revealing.

Happy to be proved wrong but if I needed cash to expand, I would be looking to raise it during the Croda pre-launch phase when the SP was likely to be on the up.

Is it clear that SBTX innovations have been used in Idealift?

Ah, I see that Midas in the DM gave OPTI a mention in a review of stocks which could benefit from the current rush to thin-ness. That explains the rise.

Just curious as to why an Amazon listing is perceived as such good news. Can't anyone list their products on Amazon? And could it not instead be construed that their conventional retailers had fallen short?

belgrano, i've encountered numerous paywalls, tip sheets, e-mail rings, etc over the years and some are no more or less than orchestrated attempts to pump a share price for their own benefit. i don't trust any of them – especially if any ceos are party to the proceedings.

my feeling is that those with real inside information want the sp to be as low as possible while they fill their boots so it would make no sense to share it – at least not while it's hot news.

fair enough if these people are only sharing their legitimate research/analysis because there are plenty of aim punters who don't have the time or the ability to do their own work; but there are free forums like this one where knowledgeable investors share their insights for nothing.

i don't share the view that sa is too *****rdly with sbtx news and answers. he recently held two investor presentations and an agm within a month and gave an answer of sorts to every question that was asked.

but there's nothing to stop him fielding questions at other times from an x channel if he is inclined to. he just needs to stay within the law and not descend to the lenigas level of barnum, pump and dump.

at the end of the day, the most successful small cap stocks are probably the ones who issue the fewest rns's because that means they aren't forever issuing new shares or downgrading forecasts.

DireCons, Friday's SP rise has been attributed to "paywall news".

I don't trust any of the trades today. Ignoring the two lonely outliers (15.50p at 09:24:38 and 14.60p at 10:22:17, all the trades have been in the 15.00–15.134p band so where they got 15.30p and now 15.40p from, goodness knows. I'm beginning to think that Cavendish are playing around too much and they may not be able to best serve both SBTX and OPTI under the same roof. They also advise Ashman on what he can and can't say in an RNS.

You're almost certainly right…but we *should* know. If Miton and Cynosure bought 7% (approx 15m shares) between them then at least one of them should have filed a TR-1. Feel free to pester Stuart Ashman for this information which Skin was bound by the rules to disclose to the market.
