I totally agree with that. Add in the super cycle 30 year aspect - you have a perfect storm.
What do they say about investing in gold shares / companies...
1 Cycle & timing
2 Asset quality & physical structure
3 Management & plan / infrastructure
4 patience while the SP rises through time

I absolutely agree with your statement - and the reason i have significantly invested into the mining (GGP) and metals recovery sector (JLP) for the very first time ever over the last few months.

I am an medium size employer at lower end wage levels, and both prior to March last year and currently - we are continually finding it difficult to find and employ good people, remember unemployment was at an all time low.
Additionally, Covid has accelerated the definition of the high St Vs E-commerce , and i believe that over the next year the work force will redistribute across new / different areas of employment (hopefully my company).
Also for some companies Covid represents an opportunity for growth...
We will need to pay for the costs associated with Covid - the result will be growth, inflation, (tax, interest rates to a degree).
Then at some point in the next few years - a down turn.

Thanks for your valued insight. I get the variance from the norm, and can definitely see how GGP with the current market conditions is a "find of the decades" and am real pleased i stumped up £280k and bought in at c24p. And for the record i also totally get the the fact that shares go down as well as up during this journey.

A question for those who have experience in mine life cycles...
Given: 2.5 PLANNED LIFE OF MINE, and the stage 1 a c3 year term and, stage 2 a c20 year term, to what extent would the Lassonde mining life SP cycle apply (if at all) ?
I think Bamps previously suggested that as we have turned from an initial exploratory role to early doors JV miner, the curve would be through time in one direction (with the usual market ups and downs).
In other words do we see a SP rise say above c£1 during the next 3 years, and then more steady rises (with dividends ?) for the subsequent +10 years subject to the POG... ?
All the above assumes GGP are not bought out of course...
I am just trying to get a traditional view as to cycles given this unique situation (asset value, Telfer, etc).

In answer to your question i for one am significantly invested in JLP @ c7p, not because of CB but due to the excellent profile risk vs reward profile (tailings at surface) etc.
Interestingly by comparison i probably hold 1/15th the value of JLP in XTR ... would that seem to be a realistic ratio based on risk to you. ?
Additionally, i like CB's enthusiasm and can see there are genuine opportunities as you mention particularly in the copper / gold projects. Don't see this stock for the long term at the moment.

Got bored myself last March started looking at old & rare whiskies - got quite a collection now too expensive to drink but was interesting pulling it all together - now that's diversification - i think they call it "alternate assets", and assuming GGP hits £1 and / or worst case the bottom drops out of whisky - guess what - i can drink it ;-)

Exactly, and it seems to me that the mining world in terms of the movers and shakers is a small one.
The JLP Chairman has other activities in Australia - wouldn't be a massive leap to establish a JV somewhere there compared to other parts of the world...
Please excuse the very generalised complex business expansion in a matter of a sentence, it's the principle i'm exploring only...

Newbie myself significantly in at c24p.
My steady investments are in funds.
My spicy investments are 60% GGP & 40% JLP which had they of been made years ago would of been more speculative and risky. But now for a variety of macro economic & GGP / Newcrest / Havieron reasons the risk Vs reward is very much less as to some degree is your upside (when compared to the recent years uplift - that probably caught your eye in the first place). However, i believe there are multiples on the current share price, and if GGP "JV" their way into a mining foothold, the long term looks good too.

Impressive developments generally and good to see IP protection on the ConRoast technology.
I would imagine the base technology (rather than improvements and innovations on it) are known to and operated by other companies or not??
Whilst exploration and mining success (SP) depends on assets, access viability and market (to name just a few variables), JLP needs tailings contracts, and viability by transportation for refining, and other locations (volume) and material source qualities (i would imagine).
So in a sense "competition" in JLP's market is not the issue here, it's more about cyclical (metals price) timing, location to sustainable amount of contractible tailings and project and alternate geographic location opportunities.
Certainly you could imagine there's enough to go at in Zambia, and to take the technology elsewhere (different countries) you might need JV's ??

I believe we are seeing a re-alignment of metals and gold increasing in price and taking an upward swing together with the wider equities market much like the mid 80's. Pumped up by going green, printing money (infrastructure), shortage of metal supply, and a pent up demand (cash) when released from a government forced technical recession, possibly a once in a few decades perfect storm...
This upward swing will last for a while - then tears (though possibly not for gold as it's also the place to retreat to in a future down turn). But Bitcoin will fall away earlier due to the reasons speedymeadie mentioned.

I agree that JLP is a "producer " growing organically, with ongoing and future project opportunities and shouldn't be confused with exploration and mining risk - reward profiles. So unless they are bought out JLP SP will continue to grow with periodic accelerated growth spurts due to specific project opportunities, and the time frame is open ended due to demand , pricing and macro economics imo.
Can't believe JLP sits in a mining index with explorers and miners, that's like saying Aston Martin is in the engine design & building business because they make a car...

Clealrly Miton see's exactly what we see in JLP and that includes future growth and profit hitting the SP.
And it's interesting to hear Slater explain their judgement calls on investing - all the while "ticking off" the attributes of JLP too.
Sit on hands me thinks, and wait for take off and enjoy the ride.

Newbie here and nobody is bullying me (firmly sat on my hands for the ride) - bought very significantly at c8p, did it on the basis of the macro economics relating to current and future pricing of JLP's basket of processed metals. Also risk Vs reward i.e. the recovery of surface pre-mined tailings Vs mining underground risks.
JLP adjust their processing efficiency based on the tested to "nth degree" piles of waste...
JLP are now scaling the operations, it's green & sustainable, and you know for a fact they can grow organically or by JV, etc across other jurisdictions.
Leon is an excellent balance between a good business leader in the wider sense, and promoting / communicating key points to the shareholders - this certainly was a key factor for me.
Forget the "Lassonde mining share curve" - JLP's SP upward trajectory for the large part through time will be performance based on two factors...
1 Increasing and sustainable production of current and future assets.
2 Additional SP acceleration underpinned by additional strategic business opportunities.
Mark my word and watch this space.
