Agree Happy. This is the problem BP have with this hedge towards green. Neither pleasing the oil investors nor the green investors. Stuck in no man's land and stagnating. A bid may well come from a US oil company who need somewhere to invest all their profits.
The govt will pretend to fight the deal but in the end will cave into US trade pressure. Imo

Balance sheet focus shows Looney is at heart a finance man. Good to see company in excellent shape.

I think people need to give him a break. The likes of him and Musk are creating wealth, jobs and development for many. Not saying he needs to understand rules, but some of the best minds are mavericks and cannot be tamed. Atb

I'm not entirely sure why buybacks ate getting such bad press here. With Brent under 80, without buybacks, SP would be a lot lower.
Buybacks allow me to leave my capital here stress free. I don't have the time to trade so good luck to those who do.

The headwinds exist but did not justify a 50% plusses drop. Correction to a more sensible level is nice to see. Its still far too low and i am hopeful we will hit 20 in the next few weeks. Atb

Summary, made loads of cash. 4 billion set aside for buybacks in q1 2023. Dividend slowly rising. Debt down by 6 B. Cue, labour will bash big oil for about 24 hours. And repeat after q1 results!

Forget the Feds pivot, Looney's change of heart on the speed of shift to renewables and back to carbon - is an enormous immediate relevance to BP share price. I am expecting a brisk market response...to the positive. IMO of course. Next few days will be very interesting. ATB

Let me give you my take on what Thursday will bring.....Shell makes a ton of profit, possibly bigger margin than ever - but critics will say, last quarter take was less than previous quarter and overall less than 'analysts' predicted.....and Labour will be saying evil oil company making a ton of money should pay more WFT....far too predictable.
Meanwhile, Shell will make a ton of money, put aside a big dollop for buybacks and increase dividend a tad. Job done. all IMHO of course.
