Thanks for the extra info Alfa, great to read how Professor Maria Skylas-Kazacos developed the first VFRB. What a trailblazer, she comes across as very modest too. Interesting that it was her less meticulous rough approach with the electrode that was key to making it work.

Does the University of New South Wales still own the license for the single acid electrolyte (sulphuric acid)?

Do we have a license to produce that as well as the mixed acid electrolyte (sulphuric and hydrochloric)?

In the recent webinar Mikhail said BE planned to produce single and mixed acid electrolyte, so I assume we have the license or will get it.

A tickly cough has kept me awake the last few nights, hence the time of posts.

I just want to add that the Bushy Share Chat is the cat's whiskers. I enjoy the healthy debate and because genuine Bushies are serious about wanting success for BMN, I understand why it can get heated. I agree with Loudspeaker in that it's better to let the clash of opinions run its course. I don't know anyone personally but can tell we have a few alpha personalities, Alfa included :) It's tempting to jump in when a disagreement escalates, but maybe just the occasional referee would give people time to calm down and exchange a virtual handshake. I hope Ophidian and Pdub make peace as they are both exceptional contributors, and the board is richer for differing opinions.

I like the jokes and banter too, but wholeheartedly agree with Roscon's 'Good morning' posts.

Finally, I hope RichKen's Claire and Knuttie's Liz both feel better soon. Your better halves are fortunate to have you supporting them with love, laughter and chocolate. On that note, I've read that dark chocolate is also good for coughs, so I'm off to raid the Christmas choccy stash.

As a relative newbie, I can imagine how exciting it must've been for long term holders to hear in Nov 2017 that BE and UET were going to develop the Eskom VRFB. A year on and as the Nov 2018 RNS states, things are going well with further updates expected soon.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that UET's CEO - Z. Gary Yang led the PNNL team that developed a new vanadium based electrolyte (2011). During the recent BE webinar Mikhail mentioned the electrolyte license. PNNL licensed the breakthrough electrolyte chemistry to three U.S. companies, including UniEnergy Technologies (UET), a company that Z. Gary Yang cofounded in 2012 to commercialize the new VRFBs. It fills me with confidence that we're working with UET, who better to handle the electrolyte contamination hiccup, and make improvements along the way.

LTHs are probably aware of UET's background and collaboration with Bushveld Energy, but newbies may find the following links helpful.

The first link is to an Oct 2017 article written by Z. Gary Yang. It's really interesting and explains the history of redox flow batteries, how PNNL developed the vanadium based electrolyte, UET developed their VRFBs, and how this type of energy storage technology will lead the way.

I can relate to Warren Buffett's long term investment principle. I held one share for over 10 years. Others between 1 and 2 years. The shortest was a few months and only sold that one early as I wanted to increase my position in BMN. I've been fortunate to never make a loss, but my portfolio was sometimes in the red. This is where patient long term holding is beneficial. If you can afford to wait and believe in a company's fundamentals you can ride out or buy during the dips. It's stood me in good stead, my investments have always beat bank savings account rates by a mile.

Does this mean the MMs are trying to walk the price up now?

I'm used to them stating buys as red but not the other way around. Contrary Marys.

Dividend policy is expected sometime this month (fingers crossed) :)

I got excited as I thought the RNS was going to be the new dividend policy. Then got a bit concerned until I read it related to a legacy issue and it seems a bit OTT. It kind of reminds me of when a safe driver gets an exorbitant parking fine for being a few mins late leaving a shopping car park.

Thanks Jerry, I posted a similar study on the BMN board today, published by the Royal Society of Chemistry. Energy storage technology is moving at such a fast pace, I don't think it will be long before VRFBs are more widely known and used. Would be good if AfriTin tin and BMN vanadium electrolyte is used in Afica's VRFBs and then worldwide too.

Yeah Ros, I read that news article. I must admit, I've not made a loss yet. I've only invested in a few other companies over the years and I made profits between 20% and 90%. All reinvested in BMN, which I think will be my most profitable and I've only been invested since late Sept, but I think ATM will do really well. I just said on the BMN board that my ATM investment is my electric vehicle savings fund. I think that's very apt as the demand for tin will be high for EV batteries. I've got a few years to watch ATM take off.

RazorSchultz, I'm no expert, my most memorable chemistry lesson was when my lab partner singed his fringe on a Bunsen burner. My understanding (from t'internet) of the benefits of tin in VRFBs is that it is a preferred electrocatalyst.

'An electrocatalyst is a catalyst that participates in electrochemical reactions. Catalyst materials modify and increase the rate of chemical reactions without being consumed in the process. Electrocatalysts are a specific form of catalysts that function at electrode surfaces or may be the electrode surface itself' (wikipedia)

It's my goal to save up for an electric vehicle that perked my interest in tin as an investment. I decided today to invest a very modest sum in AfriTin; 50,000 shares for £1599. So that's my new car fund started, and got a few years to watch it grow. By the way, the MMs are reporting ATM buys as sells too, but we're on to them :)

I'm a BMN investor and responded to a post by Compass007 (on the BMN board) earlier. I agreed that the future demand for tin is going to be high due to its advantages in renewable energy batteries, both lithium ion and VRFBs. I had a look at AfriTin and decided to put my money where my mouth is. Only a very modest investment as my savings are all in BMN.

50k shares @ 3.1975 £1,599 08:22am is my buy (it's listed as a sell).

Yeah, the demand for tin is only going to increase in the future, especially in renewable energy solutions. It is currently used in lithium ion batteries, and tin also has excellent effects on the performance of all-vanadium redox flow batteries (see link). VRFBs and tin - for investors in BMN and AfriTin the future is bright.
