It is for politicians to square the circle of public announcement v energy supply reality - they will fail and reality will eventually hold sway
A fact is that even of all the cars and planes on the planet were grounded tomorrow, the world would still be inescapably dependant for DECADES on oil for a vast panorama of everyday essentials.
There is thus NO WAY that the world will stop being ultra-reliant on oil for decades
Wise heads amongst all OPEC+ members will have already grasped that they hold a finite supply of a resource which will inevitably INCREASE in value. The only way to shoot themselves in the foot will be to allow members to break strict agreement to flood the market and crash the price. It would be like a turkey voting for Xmas
The ONLY way to safeguard all OPEC+ economies for decades will be for the collective to stick together and intelligently manage the supply of their finite resource over several decades at inevitable high(er) prices. Put another way - if you owned a finite resource the world was heavily reliant upon for several decades, and which would become more valuable as time progressed - would you flood the market and cause temporary oversupply and a price crash? Would you sell the crown jewels for peanuts, knowing the value of those crown jewels was certain to increase dramatically in value? You would not!
I predict (there will always be an occasional ignorant hiccup) OPEC+ being ULTRA-SOLID in forthcoming years. No one will risk killing the golden goose set to become ever more golden. Any miscreant misbehaving will quickly be brought back into the fold.
The above will be a natural consequence of politically driven future investment limitation v constant supply demand for at least the next 3 decades, ie supply v demand = price. It will be akin to De Beers controlling the supply & price of diamonds.

Should HUR successfully negotiate the next 6 months without well problems, and Brent remains high, it is genuinely possible to envisage a whole new vista opening up. High long term Brent prognosis will make the large sandstone acreage, as well as Lancaster development, appealing to a farmee/partner. I am sure that securing HUR a partner, if not an outright trade buyer, will be one of CA's targets. Should one be found, the longer term vista and SP possibilities open up dramatically. Whereas this may not happen, it is not pie in the sky but, with fair wind, a genuine possibility.

No one KNOWS what will happen to oil price in 2022. But these are the fundamentals
