eust - spot on, be helpful if couple of people who know posted their view on how many kwh a 24k combi used when in central heating mode. can't find my user manual to have a look.
when i find out will decide how many hrs a day to programme boiler for. it's best single way to limit fuel costs over winter. the octopus advice - heat the person (ie wear more) not the space

From looking at my Octopus dashboard & phoning them:-
a kwh of gas costs 10.51 p incl vat (Octopus) after energy price cap applied to bill
24k kwh gas boiler (smallest household boiler) costs 10.51 x24 = £2.52 an hour to run
boiler running 10 hrs a day (of course won't run constantly) but just to illustrate costs 2.52 x 10 = 25.20 a day = £750 pcm
24k boiler running 2 hrs a day = 2.52 x 2 = 5.04 a day x 30 = £151.20 pcm
4 hrs a day = £302.40 pcm
6 hrs a day = £453.60 pcm
8 hrs a day = £604.80 pcm
Scary? Yes. My gas usage soared last 2 weeks since temps dropped so was time to find out.
By the way, 11kwh = 1 cubic metre of gas

gloucs sets things out nicely yesterday 09.42am. And if P8 estimated Nav was $250 mill (conservative est), if buyer can get max 91% EPL offset for P8 cost, that adds +$70mill to P8 Nav. it all adds up. Also, I don't see why tax credits wouldn't be worth 6p a share min to right buyer

think EPL change to 35% makes HUR more attractive to bigger oilco - saving 40% basic tax (HUR credits), can do P8 at virtually nil cost (offset EPL payable), P8 gives chance to open up Lancaster and mega bucks. if someone seriously interested i hope RB is having smart guy researching how much HUR worth to them. helps much in negotiations

Oil price hit today specifically because China cancelled a few middle east tanker loads due to Covid problems and cheaper buying from Russia. Not 'recession'. Expect bounce back Monday. December is THE big oil price month

Am I correct in thinking EPL rise suddenly makes HUR's 16p a share on paper tax credits definitely worth 6p-8p a share to bigger oilco looking to keep it's overall tax bill low (the basic 40% of profit normal times payable) to counter the EPL rise?

I always appreciate posted links eg Laser's yesterday. People read & research different things. If someone takes the time to read around a topic & post what they consider valuable to improve communal understanding, I'll bother to read it. A forum's a team effort. Pointless not sharing. I have a 20 min read around oil price and oil news most days & post a link if I think it has merit and may add something to group knowledge. Seems criminal not to when it's 30 seconds to copy & paste.

EPL from 25% to 35% is a kick and now we really do need the December EU Russia sanctions & USA strategic reserve end to kick to get us to minimum $100 oil or even better for 2023 H1.
Will HUR's tax credits be seen as being more valuable now if interested companies seek to offset higher EPL profit-loss by lowering their normal tax liabilities via buying HUR?

By whatever accounting finesse. HUR 2022 EPL running at circa 10%. And RNS forecast same for 2023. Which is a boon.
So HUR not sold likely to pay a tad more 2023? (increase starts Jan 23)
