Dive - I do fully take your point. I tried to make clear I was citing Andy illustratively and metaphorically, rather than definitively. If I failed, I apologise unreservedly. There were as you say highly likely more substantive issues. But at times when we are struggling generally with substantive issues, lesser issues we can normally shrug off add to the burden. It can sometimes be a lesser straw which breaks a camel's back. I have been there, on the cusp many years ago. Thinking that if life can be so cruel and painful, what is the point of continuing in such a world? What halted me was instinct never to give in, and awareness that even if I did not at the time know the answer, one existed which in time I would understand. My knowledge of the physical details of Andy's demise were gleaned from newspaper reports of which I read as many as I could find. So your information will be more specific and likely more accurate than mine.
You will note I ceased arguing with the poster in question long ago. That is because doing so plays into his hands. Rather I write illustratively. It is more effective. Sometimes of course, I fail. I am sure that given his nature, Andy would not have been offended. I can only say that my citing of Andy was neither flippant nor gratuitous. It's not my nature. And it was to make a worthwhile general point. It was certainly not to argue with a poster I specifically avoid direct argument with.

Euston - thanks. My today's 09.49 substantive post was initially removed within 10 mins of it's first appearing. It's truth must have frightened a certain poster who complained. My email to the Moderator explaining it broke no posting rules elicited an apology and immediate reinstatement. One wonders what reaction would have been if I were not so thick-skinned and had topped myself under stress & fear of legal action and possible bankruptcy? I have no doubt Aduk was cheering on my citing him from his seat in Heaven.

As my courteous and fair comment on hxul's 10.34 post has been pulled, to save similar I will limit my comment to being (i) I never indulge in cabin fever (ii) I was minded to post my 09.49 serious thoughts weeks ago but at that moment had neither time nor juice to do so. I stand by by my thoughts. No one likes unnecessarily spilled milk - that is stating the obvious. But it is more important to fix the leaking -pan cause, rather than take the easy option of continually complaining about the messy spilt milk

In Sept 2021 long term HUR SH & respected poster (since 2013) AdoubleUk committed suicide in a French river. It is not know why. What is known is that he held a significant HUR investment, bought at significantly higher price than that at summer 2021, or now. He was retired, a principal poster against HUR mismanagement, & the failed 95% restructuring attempt. Because of this he was, in months preceding his death, trolled by those seeking to enable continuing mismanagement, and the 95% restructuring attempt to succeed. Whatever multiplicity of pressures caused Aduk to end his life, it cannot be wholly discounted that trolling impacted his mental well-being.

In recent months a poster who made known to the forum in normal discourse that a degree of financial peril necessitated partial sale of his HUR holding has been trolled incessantly by a single poster by threats of litigation on nonsense grounds. It is common knowledge that a UK legal action can bankrupt an individual. The threatened poster made known his view that it was nonsense-trolling. And has since confirmed he is not being sued. It is a reasonable assumption that the threatening poster intended to instill fear of financial ruin into the recipient poster's mindset, and thereby silence him. It was (and remains) trolling, and is DANGEROUS.

The well publicised refrain from website/forum owners, perpetrating posters, readers/contributors on well publicised 'trolling deaths' is invariably... ' we weren't aware/didn't think/if only we had known/should have taken more notice/ thought it was just a bit of fun/etc/etc.

Responsible posters take issue with a dangerous trolling poster, via ridicule. laughter & other slants; knowing that showing an emperor to be without clothes to be effective. But such is invariably countered as being 'handbags at dawn, six of one half a dozen of another, clogging the forum' Too often, may I opine, by those visiting the forum for a quick information fix who rarely contribute via constructive donkey work.

During this writing, Boss59 correctly and squarely highlights the perennial problem - considerable support for the 'shut up' posts. What is the answer? I don't know. Well, I do actually. But not enough would listen.

What I state plainly is - trolling is DANGEROUS. One can reasonably predict within certain parameters that it will impact negatively the recipient's mental health - sometimes slightly, occasionally catastrophically. By definition, anyone who does nothing to stop a troller (there being various ways to contribute), carries proportional responsibility. Put another way - how would you as reader today feel if you were were being constantly trolled by threat of legal action? Safe? Unaffected? Think carefully before you answer. Because when the troller has succeeded with one victim, or hit a brick wall, you may be his next victim.

it is not (as indeed it rarely is) a case of six of one and half a dozen of the other. it is comment such as yours which lets bad posters escape blameless ad finitum.
I simply reported that LSE moderators had emailed informing me a certain poster was being monitored (litany of complaints, falsely asserting LSE had released a members private info, attempted intimidation etc). Should I have kept this private?
Boss - you are correct Daltry speaks his mind. Problem is is - he usually gets it wrong. And cheering the most complained about poster on here, whatever he writes, certainly does him no credit. You're better off asking the cat for objectivity

Yes, I considered it merited that peeps knew moderators had emailed me the poster was now being monitored. a few peeps laughed at the poster. flying had thread pulled on basis it was egos nothing to do with HUR. i explained to flying it was not ego, and mattered, and viewed his action unwise. that post pulled also. bozwollocks has since kindly chipped in with displeasure at thread/post pulling. that's where we're at now

since HUR are throwing off +$100mill pa profit, the EPL should be $25 mill
at $5 mill and bits (even if expensive bits) the EPl does not seem to be damaging us much

there is a caveat to the 25% EPL tax HUR are liable for. By whatever clever accounting, HUR announced it's EPL bill for y/e 2022 as being only $5 mill. And for all 2023 as expected to be same sum $5 mill. Which certainly helps us
