This was already discussed so it’s nothing we weren’t expecting. They can’t currently issue dividends because the company isn’t generating sufficient profits to justify one but they could do so from cash reserves. This requires court approval first.

There's a cost breakdown in the presentations on the website. Energy costs accounted for 18% of the overall costs last year with transport costs adding a further 2%.

There are so many unknowns right now. Will prolonged higher fuel costs push more people to adopt EV's? That could have a significant impact on PGM demand. Are we going to see a global recession due to this conflict?

I've been out for a while and don't intend to buy in again until we see where this is headed.

Most likely the 43m shares that were issued for the LWP payment, they were due to hit the market today. Hopefully there's an institutional buyer(s) to soak most of them up!

Tertiary Minerals has been doing a series of posts recently about the geology of the major Zambian copper deposits. Today was the turn of Nchanga, which is the mine which was / is the source of the Large Waste Project. Some might be interested:

The potential for both copper and cobalt in the project could make it more significant than purely a copper deposit.

The CLN matures in 3 years so there is no immediate need to repay it, apart from the annual interest accrued. The money they raised from that CLN was for a drilling program at Mushima North which was halted due to early onset of the rainy season, so they should still have funds available from that. Of course they will need to raise money at some point this year, we all know that. Will it be a placing or a further CLN? We don't know that. I would expect that they leave it as long as possible before raising money in order to get any pending news out to the market.

We have the upcoming JORC exploration target expected this month.

There was also reference to new and existing JV's and also reference to exploration at all of the Zambian licenses and also in Nevada.... the only way they could pursue exploration on all of those licenses is by further JV's. Hopefully we see something on that shortly as the rainy season draws to a close.

Looking at the latest satellite image of Molefe I can see they have cleared new ground just North of the mine, possibly the site for the new processing plant? The first phase of the plant was expected to be operational "within 8-10 weeks".

It was a bit ambiguous regarding the drilling results. My understanding of it was that they were expecting the assays to be released from the assay office "within the next week or so", not necessarily released to the market.

The trading this morning suggests that people are less concerned in a few million shares being issued to directors and more focused on the meat of the RNS which is the intention to legalise the use of funds from the SA sale for share buybacks and / or dividends.

I wonder what's going on with platinum and palladium today, platinum is up 8.5% and palladium up 5%. Maybe renewed buying after Chinese New Year?

We never got any confirmation that the planned de-bottlenecking actually happened because that was just before the cobalt price collapsed and they stopped any production. I did email JMK a while back to ask if cobalt was part of the plan and I think the answer was not at the moment but it could be in the future... something to that effect anyway. You could always email and ask again.

It doesn't look like cobalt is part of the plan for Sable, surely there would have been some reference to it in recent communications if it was. Maybe with copper at such a favourable price right now it doesn't make sense to give over some capacity to cobalt. That's assuming that the material they are processing from Roan / Molefe actually contains significant quantities of cobalt, which we don't know.

Interestingly, the LWP is waste material from Nchanga mine, which does contain cobalt, so there could be some potential there.
