Lunsemfwa Hydro, the company supplying the private power agreement, is building a solar plant along with it's two currently operating hydro plants, however unless they are planning to build it near to Roan (there's no indication of that) then it still doesn't mitigate the problem of the National Grid going offline. Some form of backup at Roan needs to be implemented so that at least they can do a controlled shutdown when necessary. From what Leon said in the past, the problems tend to be on trying to restart the plant after a shutdown, when tonnes of rock and sand are settled in the crushers. They did beef up the hardware after the initial problems at Roan but I guess any unplanned shutdown has the potential to cause damage to machinery.
At least with the rains already started we might see some of the pressure taken off the grid as they are able to increase available hydro power.
