The gold price in early 1970 s around $200 so in roughly 50 years has less than 10 bagged .from 1980 to 2006 no increase . As st t says you can forget official inflation and calculate between 7-13 per cent p a .so say 10 p cent x 50 years gives 500 per cent inflation .
Bitcoin has risen from $4000 just over a year ago to $60 k .more of an appreciation in one year than gold has managed in fifty . Would agree that at some point crypto will have a crash but the same can be forcast for equities . I am in a lot of goldies inc wsbn and been adding recently in a number . However I am happy to stay in crypto and keep taking profits out until the crash happens .the last peak in crypto was justbover 3 years . I started buying half way through the crash down to bottom . Would agree that entering the market now is a gamble .

Icb , I dont know that it is so unusual but it is significant .I posted links to f m and their issues with the mexican gvnt and their stated aim now to expand outwards . So that is the positive I see for cnr .There are a number of worries for me but I do think that there is a good posibility that if fm like what they see over this year that they will expand that holding in some way ? There could be joint venture bubbling under the surface .That is my incentive to hold .
Cnr has been developed for sale from the begining which has been cnr achilles heel as they didnt sell in the early days in the boom . The long laboured timescales have definitely put investors off ( r b imv among them ) . The introduction of a proven production team would be a massive benefit imv . Watch this space .

Karl , the naysayers have been gloating everytime bitcoin retraces .back at 60 k on my screen .Not what I would call a crash . . CryptoNice little 15 per cent for anybody that bought 22 hours ago ;) . Omi shares however have gone from near 40 p to 18 p which resembles more of a crash .Also giving anybody that knows coffee a chance to sell and re buy at half price .
it is a good time to be buying gold shares ,which is why I have been re buying omi and adding others .

Webbs , I am also in both . I have made big gains in shares and crypto this past year .omi has done great for me from sub 4 p ,covid shares also . I use the same strategy with both ,always take profit because aim like crypto is unpredictable . It is a bit surprising that there is a general either gold or crypto mentality . In response to a poster on cnr board in march last year that was heraldind bitcoins collapse to $4000 I posted that it was a buying op . It is now around 60 k .physical gold hasnt appreciated that much in 50 years . Of course the case for gold miners is different to the gold price . I have been re buying omi gradually under 20 p having sold some in the thirties but am cautious . I would be a lot more cautious if I had bought the bulk of my holding in the twenties rather than around 4 p .
Been selling some crypto over the last week and now looking to start buying back when it looks like the present pullback has bottomed .

Pat ,just added some of both last week ,plus a few aaz yesterday . Hum as a bigger gamble maybe . Still adding omi ,not an producer but 2 majors now doing all the explo .buy under 25 p imo dyor tho . I think some early stage explorers like wsbn,palm and cobr too .I think copper and lithium are both worth a bit of exposure .

Real , the ammount of jobs created by mining is relatively small compared with the amount of cash extracted and small compared with agriculture .
The kind of issues mentioned are rife in mining generally . mining companies are not likely to offer any admission of any wrongdoing are they ? Best to realise that some will always be trampled on for shareholders to hopefully get huge multibags .
Real there have been numerous indigenous attacks .they are real . La india isnt in this area but the article relating to martin does relate to indigenous areas .

Isa , I am surprised that the sp has held up so well because most goldies have dropped a lot over the last month or so . Not a cnr specific comment .
I dont believe mc and mellons interests are specifically alligned . Mc has gone from 10 per cent holder in 2010 to less than 4 where as mellon who had less than Beaty in 2016 has managed around 20 p cent during the most damaging period of dilution and will no doubt increase his percentage during the last round and I cannot imagine him wanting to pay too much in the next funding . As ever I will wait and see how things progress and assess on the way . Barring unforseen circs I dont see much downside ,just not sure I see a big upside for a fair while either .
I dont see full production likely til 2024 .

Tester ,I think checking out pur progress into production is worth a peruse as well as hum to be aware that simple timescales arnt necessarilly going to pan out .
Icb .In reference to mellon ,its a fact that he is the single biggest beneficiary of the low priced cash raises over the last 3 years .I dont see his real incentive to break that before the last cheap load up this year .
Beaty did a site visit before investing . really dont see serious investors being swayed by pr tbh .
Being a single asset companies are valued less than companies with multiple assets because of risk . We are still at the inbetweeny stage with hoops still to be jumped . Tbh I am surprised how well the sp has held up over the last month .

E l , yes absolutely it is fine to have different views . However I have never had experience of nero being particularly open to others views if different to his own . in his earlier post he refers to people being deluded and sane . Not exactly words of open minded debate . I value Big Dog and condor forevers views generally as well as regarding cnr . I have made good profits from information from other posters views of other shares including a ref from jan last year from yourself and see no reason to not converse on other subjects . Oddly constant talk of ggp has been ok . The bb has been dead for days .what really is the problem with posters chatting about general investing .Feel free to filter but I dont need permission to post .
Obviously there are different ways to invest , and the method may be determined by your financial standing of course . I am working class ,investing to improve my finances as working alone will not do that . Obviously if one has unlimited funds then one may have a different strategy .
So , only talk about cnr and gold but lets be honest ,only if you post its going to rocket .

Nero , theres nothing delusional about making profit on an investment . I think delusional would be calling a multibagger here for most of the last 10 years and pouring endless cash in to average down to the new ,lower sp .cnr entered aim at £2.70 in 2006 .delusional would be anybody who thinks that is in any way a good investment . Tbh you just appear to be a dog in a manger .

Good post Bd . I personally know someone now sitting on £300 m of bitcoin from a relatively minor investment at the very begining .
Same applies in crypto as aim ,you could lose it all possibly but the biggies are not going bust imv and best to stick profits in btc and eth . I have the same strategy in crypto as shares , sell some on a spike and re buy lower .if you can bag 5 even 5 per cent more shares each time it doesnt take too long to significantly increase your holding . My experience in crypto is somewhat better than aim generally .
My next strategy is to put a small amount in a lot of early stagers and hope to catch one or two flyers .

Bhargav , imo this will continue to spike and retrace ,hopefully with an increasing retrace level . For me buying will be on the re traces after 25 p . Selling some in the mid thirties and see how it goes . Each to their own strategy and good luck all round .

Yeah ,I have been looking for early doors for punts . Tbh I need the help of my kids if I want to buy any of the more obscure coins .bit beyond me .gonna have a little punt on splyt .my lad does a lot of work with shopify and reckons this could be a go er .
I am a small dog so selling to re buy lower or in other coins . Sticking with the same model . I see this as a far better opportunity to change my finances than shares tbh but like to be spread across different assets . I have had a good run in obc. Trd and arb . Running free on obc and arb . Not really interested in physical metals personally but understand why many are .

For cnr , Absolutely cant rule out an approach . I was surprised nobody picked up on the first majestic links I posted . First majestic have issues with the mexican gvnt re tax ,have been selling concessions and have stated they are aiming to expand out of mexico . Probably the reason they have a spare sag mill . It would be surprising to me if they are not involved somewhere in the mine finance .
For me I have enough here presently and will assess as we move forwards. Share price has been very steady though .can imagine getting back into the fifties if gold starts reclaiming ground .However same for many producers that have been hit .
