RE: Great value share to own30 Aug 2021 09:33
Hi Banburyboy my friend, I am a new investor of IMB as well, only bought in this year with a very high break even point of 1582.50p after my latest top-up. I am not an expert here either. What I have posted were historical facts.
Fundamentally, IMB's revenue, operating profit, pre-tax profit and post tax profit in 2020 were all higher than the previous 4 years but the dividends has been cut to the lowest compared to the previous 4. The SP as well has also fallen to the lowest in 5 years.
Although cigarette is kind of poison, people will still continue to smoke. IMB will continue to earn hell a lot of money. The only problem is that investors nowadays like chasing rainbows. They have abandoned all the traditional industries and go after high-tech companies. Therefore many old names are in danger of becoming the milk man, soon will be things of the past. Not just IMB, big names like BATS, BT, LLOYDS, VODAFONE, BP, BT and many others are also suffering the same fate. All their SPs have fallen to the lowest. Which way will all these dinosaurs will go from here that's everyone's guessing. I am only hoping that short term IMB will rebound to higher than my break even point. So that I can get out unharmed. Please forgive my negativity.
Enjoy the bank holiday my friend. Oh and bring on tomorrow. Let's hope that it will be a blue day. Good luck everyone and God bless!
