I don't think DGOC is safe at all. They made a loss of £136m last year and the dividend is not covered. They are most likely going to cut the payout soon.
Sorry, my bad, it does seem that I am truly an idiot then. I didn't know that. As I am not a Tesco share holder. I thought it was a straight forward payment to share holders. Please ignore all my posts. There will be no more nonsense from me here.
They said that the company will make a substantial return of capital to shareholders. How substantial? Will it be £2b or £3b? £2b will be 50+p per share and £3b will be over 75p per share....ho ho ho, another Christmas hey? how wonderful!!
Tesco paid a special dividend of 50.93p(total cost £3.86b). The SP on the day before it went ex-divi was 244.3p. Today Tesco SP has gone back to 228.40p. Just 16p less from 244.3p! Let's hope that Aviva can do the same too! Hahahaha!!
That's true. Ex-divi will deduct the same amount paying to the share holders but it will gradually come back. That's why the SP goes ex-divi every year but it still increases or goes back to previous prices every year. I am retired. I like dividend income. Of course, capital growth at the same time would be even better...lol
Aviva will sell a total of eight non-core businesses and will generate total cash proceeds of GBP7.5 billion, which will make significant progress with their debt reduction plan and in due course the company will make a substantial return of capital to shareholders. I wonder how soon we'll get a juicy special dividend??
