That's exactly what was talking about and worry about. These dinosaurs are mostly out of date businesses. Many of them will be disappeared soon just like the milkman. Therefore there's not much growth prospect but I need income to help with my tiny pension. So I'll monitor them closely and act upon when things are starting to go wrong.......lol

Well, in fact my idea is to build a high income portfolio. Now 8 of my holding are all high yield with at least 5% div. Overall average yield is 6+%. I only have two speculative shares, which carry no div at all but only weigh 4% of p/f. Therefore I am quite happy to keep it this way.
Unfortunately, my portfolio is still not perfect because high yield shares are mostly out of favour and they don't grow. Some even continue to decline such as VOD and NG. That's why I am ready to reduce my exposure of these two or even sell them up and buy other shares but only when the time is right. In the meantime, I'll just sit tight and enjoy my high income. Hopefully VOD and NG. will follow the markets and join in the rally as well.......nice wishful thinking of course...... hahahaha

In fact my statement was wrong. My average is 1598.5p was correct but my first batch cost me 1623p. If adds on the 48p div then now it has broken even. My second batch was bought at 1547p with no div and now is in profit.
How I wish the uptrend to carry on until the next ex-div day. I know it's a wishful thinking but there's nothing wrong to dream...... hahahaha!

Yes my friend, that's exactly what I am secretly afraid of. The US markets have gone crazy but I wonder for how much longer. As the saying goes: what goes up must comes down. It's only matter of time that a correction will occur. Probably will be a huge retreat after such a long way they went up. I guess many investors are getting nervous now. Some may already have one foot at the door and will run for the hills as soon as the bubbles beginning to pop. My fear is that since I am always the one to react late that I could be the one to lose big. Let's hope that it won't be as bad as some people have predicted......lol

Hey CSDI my friend. I only manage to break even at the moment. Probably will do the same if NG. can go up a bit more the coming weeks but I am not sure what to buy if I sell it though since SSE has already gone up quite a lot and I don't know about CNA at all....lol

Hey CSDI my friend, if the markets keep going like this then the chance of you unloading your batch will be quite high. I only bought in recently and my average is very high at £15.98!! But my first batch already got the 48p final div paid and that batch has just broke even. I am hoping that the SP will soon reach £17 and beyond. So wish us both the very best of luck. Sorry to reply you late again......lol

Those you were talking about were gold explorers. Of course their SP's have a lot to do with drill results. POG doesn't affect them much because they are still not producing any gold yet but POLY is already a gold miner. Their income is closely related to the POG. The higher the POG the more profits they will make. That's why POLY is so sensitive to the POG!

Hi again Danielh mate, I wasn't joking this time but just frustrated to see the share buy back doing anything to the SP. Of course I know the idea why a company buying its own shares. The proposes are reducing the number of issued shares of the company, so that the EPS of the company will increase then it will help pushing the SP up but VOD has spent so much money buying millions and millions of its own shares and VOD's SP still keeps dropping almost every day. The general markets were up nearly 1% today but VOD ended the day in the red once more. That's frustrating indeed!

Poly is a gold miner. Therefore naturally its SP follows the POG. I don't think it can be changed.

......So POLY is also heading north as well. It would be nice to see a few more days like this then this should be above £16/17. It's a wishful thinking of course...lol

Imb SP looks strong lately. Maybe it will push up to £16 and above soon. Let's hope that it will be able to do it.

.....since March 23 for so many days. Bought millions of shares every day but it still couldn't help to push the SP up. I wonder what can be done to make it go up???!! This is really frustrating indeed.

I am glad that you know what you are doing. Well, high yield shares are best for buy and keep for long term income. Short term is just a gamble. I hope you will make good returns on your investment here. GL

Few people are selling before going ex-div tomorrow. That's what causes the SP to drop in the afternoon.

The reason for that is the POG has turned north, now is up more than $8!!....

It has even reached 1470p now!

Now, 1467p!!......
