Political parties and businesses have welcomed the meeting between Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus and BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman and said that the historic meeting ushered in a fresh breeze in the country’s politics.

The much-hyped meeting was held at the Dorchester Hotel in London on Friday, where discussions took place on various crucial issues ahead of the general elections in Bangladesh.

The 12-party alliance, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB), Khelafat Majlis, Bangladesh Labour Party and some other parties said that the meeting will ensure stability in politics.

In its reaction, the 12-party alliance said that the Yunus-Tarique meeting was a message of relief for the nation.

Addressing the press conference, Dr Khalilur expressed the hope that the Election Commission will soon announce a date for the next national election.

“There is no problem over the election time. We don’t see any problem… We both sides in the joint statement talked about (our position on) the election, and we hope the Election Commission will soon announce a date for the election,” he said.

a high-level delegation of the bnp, led by its secretary general mirza fakhrul islam alamgir, is scheduled to embark on a visit to china on june 24 at the invitation of the communist party of china (cpc).

“the cpc extended a formal invitation for the visit, which is expected to focus on strengthening bilateral ties and exchanging party-level experiences,” said bnp media cell member sayrul kabir khan.

he said bnp standing committee members mirza abbas, ***eshwar chandra roy and begum selima rahman, as well as media cell convener professor dr moudud hossain alamgir pavel, will be part of the delegation.

CPB calls for elections by December, warns against delays

Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) General Secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince on Thursday termed the proposed April timeline for the national election as “unnecessary delay,” and reiterated his party’s demand, shared by other democratic forces, to hold the polls within December.

“Any delay in the election may allow regressive forces to re-emerge,” he said while addressing a meet the press event at the Khulna Press Club.

Prince clarified that CPB has no disagreement over the formation of relevant institutions or judicial matters concerning the polls.

Yunus-Tarique is crucial to take JS polls, reform agenda forward: Rizvi

The much-appreciated meeting between Chief Adviser Prof Mohammad Yunus and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will play a significant role in taking the upcoming national election, reform agenda and democracy forward.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the comment while talking to reporters at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka on Thursday.

Tarique may propose election in first week of February in meeting with CA

To break the deadlock over the election timeline, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman may propose that the election take place in February next year during his meeting with Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, reports Samakal quoting BNP leaders.

BNP has been demanding that the national election take place in December this year. Meanwhile, during his address to the nation on 6 June, CA Yunus announced that the election will take place in the first half of April next year.

Following the announcement, BNP strongly opposed polls in April next year and reiterated its demand for elections in December.

Hopefully this visit request is because China are expecting the BNP to be in power soon and can start discussing the future now ….

BNP delegation led by Fakhrul to visit China in late June

A high-level BNP delegation, led by Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, is scheduled to visit China in late June at the invitation of the Communist Party of China.

Confirming the matter, BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan said the delegation may include some members of the Standing Committee, vice chairmen, and advisers.

Meanwhile, BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury is currently in London ahead of a meeting between the party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman and Chief Adviser Prof Yunus, scheduled for Friday.

Nothing really surprises me these days to be honest, BUT, one thing I don’t like being called is a liar, which apparently I have been today… I have not personally seen the post because the poster must be on filter, but have been told by others about it!!

So just to clarify, I think that there has been enough speculation in the press over the last few days for us to speculate that Yunus is going to have to bring the election dates forward if he wants to keep the BNP, and other political parties on side ….

I have posted many links to show this, many times over, but the two below did grab my attention, one saying that a February election was possible for both sides to agree on to save face, hence why I have topped up twice this week!

I never normally, discuss my trading here, but I will on this one occasion!

Reiterating what has been said in the Bangladesh press and speculating that the election date will be bought forward on Friday, is NOT lying, it’s repeating what has already been suggested by the press, I’ve just added my opinion…

Please feel free to read back over my posts to show me where I have factually stated that Yunus will or has announced that the election dates will be changed and I’ll apologise…..
