At the point of a loan been agreed there are checks make regarding affordability. You have to agree that happens. What then makes it unaffordable will be either change in circumstance or the choices made by customer or customer lied in the first place.

I'm an adult and know the risks as should ANYONE applying for a loan
If a family buys a 2 bedroom home but then have twins they can't claim their interest payments back because their circumstances have changed

I agree that Amigo may of got some things wrong but you are basically saying that grown ups shouldn't have the right to make their own minds up. which in my mind is totally wrong. We all know that someone would of borrowed 5k and used some of that to pay off debt so they could afford the loan but then got back in debt during the life of the loan. How are Amigo responsible for that?
Also, the current culture is blame the big bad business. PPI was wrong to use as a hidden product and IT WAS used that way, but not all the time but once flood gates were open ANYONE who had it even if they had agreed to it could claim it back

Wouldn't it be interesting to view the amount of complaints Amigo got from customers regarding affordability in 2016
Lets say for the sakes of easy numbers it was 20 and they got redressed
Fast forward to today and lets say it's 100 due to the fact it is soooo easy to win even if not fact
Isn't that the same if SOA approved ? chancers diluting pay-out

I have to agree that Amigo must of missed something re this issue or was it even an issue before pay day lenders ?
I actually don't understand the letter of the law regarding affordability but it seems to of become a recent issue so the way I look at it is that Amigo have also been a victim here
Did they do something wrong ? most likely gave loans to a small percentage, mainly top ups without doing correct checks . This opened the flood gates to the the rest. The people they help are by the nature of this market more likely to get behind with rent, bills etc, This is the reason they offer help if a guarantor also signs up. 2 adults signing legal document to agree they can afford the loan. What this also means is that it is now also easy for these people to claim they couldn't afford it by providing debt letters like rent over due etc (they would of had with or with a loan). To be honest I don't actually know what people need to provide (maybe blind could help)
I know I'm making a sweeping judgement but lets be honest with ourselves here Amigo are paying out millions to chancers
Are Amigo totally innocent ? I doubt it but to say they haven't had pain is totally wrong
On a personal note I think people need to stop having a this world owes me Fing attitude or why shouldn't I have it if someone else has it without earning it. Most of the posts i've seen on facebook moan about the interest like it was a shock to them proving they just wanted the money and made a choice based on monthly repayments without thinking it through.. And yes I have been there, but worked my way out over a number of years
Saying all this we are where we are and Amigo now have to show they are serious about doing the right! thing and my concern is the 5% and think it should of been higher. I have I mentioned that before :) lol
Fingers crossed the FCA approve SOA as is and yes this will mean those that actually deserve 100p in the pound get less but that's due to the rest claiming that don't deserve it and not because Amigo is a bad company

I'm expecting drops then RNS with news on FCA
If approved I think we'll see a good rise
I'd also expect a lending again RNS shortly after as I can't see them being able to wait until its all sorted

Am I in love with Amigo ? no but i'd say I know more about this share than any other
What attracts me is the fact that this could retire me early

And I don't actually think any of the board members are stupid enough to release an offer without knowing it isn't going to go down badly with FCA and hopefully already been fully discussed with FCA
But we all know not to take these things for granted :)
I know I bang on about the percentage but I see this as the last hurdle for Amigo and in turn for us. And as I've said many times I keep coming back to 5%. Remember we are talking profit so why not higher ? Is it because they know that will do ?

There is no point going over the reasons behind why FCA/FOS believe so many customers that approached Amigo for a loan with a second adult in tow but we are where we are
When Gary did his first video he implied Amigo was an ethical lender with the correct processes in place and he was going to spend 2 days in that department. The next time I heard him talk about claims it was CMS's processing claims twice and no talk about how Amigo was being wronged regarding claimants. For all we know there has been a problem for years even if an honest mistake. I know i'm sounding like Jimmy but these things do cross my mind.
BUT
Gary's and co buys along with share scheme and the fact he's attracted such a great team that ONLY profit if they make it work more than sway me towards the fact he must have a plan and hopefully more than one
I'm just trying to understand the chance of a scheme being approved and it sounds like a very small percentage to offer to me.
That's why I say get away with

How can FCA approve a deal if they have no clue as t what expected pay out would be to claimants ?
Wouldn't it be better to say 6 months time frame collate numbers make offer ?
Or do you think they are trying for what they think they'll get away with ?
