Much the same choice for persons generally other than those who only do short local trips, have a garage , use their garage to put their car in ( not that many ) etc. In actual fact Monkey you've hit the nail on the head in one word.... That's quite a comment from the DoT spokesman. Additionally the reluctance to charge these vehicles says a lot about the reluctance to change habits fullstop. All working in FCEV's favour I feel.

I think you're right. It simply doesn't sound like progress to me. Maybe we need to change our routines in order to save the planet but ultimately human nature is to keep the status quo. H2 cars in with a good shout.

Monkey that makes complete sense. Still not sure what the answer is though. I would suggest that if HGV's etc. aren't suited to battery power then that opens the way for a global H2 refuelling infrastructure? To be honest 30 minutes spent recharging your car wouldn't go down too well with many drivers either?

What I'm trying to get at , struggling to get at , is the answer to the question: Do we need H2 cars? My gut feel is yes but it's a gut feel. If EV's can provide an all-encompassing solution then the answer is probably no. If there are significant shortfalls in an EV world then the answer is probably yes. In my head it's the latter. Loads of problems , we've discussed them many times but it's only alongside quantification that it means anything. The only thing for certain is that the requirements will be massive. It's not like were inventing the kettle here and supplying one to every household. We're kneecapping fossil fuel and asking E to power multi billions of road , rail , sea? , air?? miles. I hope someone's sitting somewhere with a calculator.....

Localised is logical but do the numbers stack up? Accepting that fossil fuels are dead what happens then? How many EV's will be able to be charged locally , via home solar etc? Presumably people will need to own their own homes , with their own roofs and also be able to afford the necessary kit? Presumably also , during the week , the cars will be charged overnight , is that electricity going to be available? How many cars won't be able to fit in with this scenario , owned by flat owners etc., etc. Personally , all I can see is problems, problems that grow exponentially with volume as diesels die off. Consequently I can't agree that H2 cars are dead in the water. If H2 is needed for depot type set ups and for HGV's , trains etc. then logically cars will be on that list.... GWA and good to see SP on the up!

Not too many turbines Max , a system which copes extremely poorly and inefficiently due to fluctuation in demand. More turbines , more green energy , more explanation of how H2 can help our energy evolution.

Spot on Keltic and it's the first part of your post that 'we' should be jumping on. It's simple to understand and a massive insight for the general public as to why H2 is essential.

Their PR improved within the recent trading update. Plenty of positive slants and a great finale in the promise of significant contract gains just around the corner. Should keep the SP on the up.

No problems with this one. Nice to see a change in accent , positivity. Shows awareness of how the message needs to be put across. They're happy and I think we should be. Lot's going on and 2 years will seem like a lifetime given how this market is going to change.

We need a SHELL or a car consortium of note to get these HRS's. The government have their heads where the sun don't shine and it can't be blamed on little old ITM. They can be blamed for not putting the obvious case forward to the general public though.

Out of touch on the numbers here. I know it's irrelevant in the long term but how do costs compare versus fossil fuel for each alternative? More importantly , how do the costs compare EV versus FCEV when you effectively have a mortgage running on new batteries and gradual degradement of battery presumably? If in H2's favour then a great bit of PR for an imaginary PR department.....

Unfortunately JohnP what happens with trucks and cargo ships will probably depend on Politicians. We have a prize prat in the White House who even now denies human induced climate change. He has the biggest ego on the planet but isn't intelligent enough to realise that he can make the biggest name for himself by helping to save the planet rather than incinerate it. He won't always be there. That said, the pressure is mounting. As weather records are consistantly broken and as catastrophic events occur the case gets stronger. Personally I reckon we may be past the tipping point and if , as you say , peak oil usage is 8 years away then God help us. It's a pathetic suggestion and I don't know how it works but maybe a petition to the Climate Change Minister would get good support? Something along the lines of 'Get off your arse and do something pronto'. Serious suggestions welcome. ps. re the Tesla truck , 4000 homes, now that should be dead in the water....
