"Most" journeys are short but far from all of them. Most people want flexibility and a car for all seasons ie. trip to shops ( can be done on bike but 99% are too lazy/won't) , commuting ( ditto in a lot of cases ) , work related ( reps/ other employees who require a company car for business ) , and holidays etc. The first two can probably be covered by EV's provided it's not too much hassle , the last two , not really. People want a car that does what their current one does and more , ie. progress. Whether the article is aimed at Oilers is irrelevant if the points are relevant and suggesting that mankind will get over the issues by walking and cycling more is a surprising suggestion. We're getting lazier and we want lazy solutions.... Ocado , Internet shopping , Games consoles instead of footballs, electric bicycles for gods sake..... I wish it were otherwise.

Or EV's have major limitations to a great many drivers. They are not seen as progress.

Re the Storage headline , how they can get the headline wrong by a factor of 1000 beats me....

The SP get's dropped on pretty low sales/buy ratios in the periods pre decent RNS's , most recently last week. Obviously just a simple co-incidence (?) but a shame for people who jump ship and great for those who jump on ( / load up / take advantage / cheat )

Local 6pm news carried an article on recently installed 350KW chargers which will seemingly solve all time issues etc. Oops I thought , could impact on ITM? Thankfully no , still 25 to 30 minutes. No fag packet available but I still wonder how on earth the EV takeover can work? Substitute say a 3 minute refuel for 25-30 , factor in fewer miles achieved per refuel and you very quickly require acres and acres of recharging car parks or it simply doesn't "stack" up.

The article also mentioned degradation of batteries so I presume that will affect the equation above. Their issue was disposal , 10 years useable life was anticipated but let's face it , most people change their cars well within that time scale so it will be an even bigger problem.

My scalextric set had none of these issues. A simple re-design should sort it. Mind you , it'll make my cycling a bit tricky with that groove cut in the road.....

Ditto with the early trees. Can cope with it all excepting the itchy eyes. Drives me nuts (/nuttier).

Not sure about the hay-fever thing. Get it myself quite badly. More likely council under-funding which means that verges etc. are allowed to grow wild with the convenient excuse that it helps bug life etc. The latter is probably true but it still get's up my orifices.

People take their pre-determined 10%'s or similar and it does affect the SP to an extent. The history here is a roller coaster so some will jump ship if they feel the down is coming. Don't know about the flurry but whatever happens the trend is a pretty strong up. Today's current up is very encouraging but let's see what happens by end of day. Much warmth and happiness here. GLA

Currently there must be batteries , they are here. Some way ahead , not so sure. If we need H2 for the big stuff then it will be available for the small. By then economies will have been made and C footprint issues will be up to a size 13. I feel H2 will fair better than Li.
