The trouble is it's taken us about 150 years or so of very hard work to screw things up. We are still doing so at an alarming rate. It may be that things are too far gone so don't expect any marked improvement whatsoever. The idiots at the top have known for years and done nothing. We currently have the A1 prize village idiot in charge of the USA. Expect any changes to the weather to be in the wrong direction.

Absolutely CadburyH. It's taken a while but what is happening and has still to happen is huge. We've had stabs at forecasts on here , probably all widely wrong but one thing for certain is the numbers will be huge. If we can dodge the big fish for a year or two then the widely used but rarely seen Multi-bagger term is in a strange way insufficient IMO. I'm seriously expecting £'s on the SP , literally one serious order could open the floodgates. Surprised to see the SP doing so well over the last week on very little news. To 'coin' an old phrase the penny is dropping.

Wishing to lower the tone , but only the Aussies could suggest that a dump a day will get me up the A14 and back. Not exactly an infinite supply of energy. Good intentions I guess.

Let's face it. There are necessarily going to be significant advances left right and centre. Some we can have a good stab at but others will come from outside the box. I would imagine a lot of the brightest ideas will come from the aviation bods , you can't have a plane fall out of the air and you have gravity to deal with to get it up there. Plus they are currently the biggest polluters so need to step up big time. One thing I would venture , I don't think you'll find anything relying on tonnes of batteries in the long / medium or even short term.

Sorry. Bad analogy , carthorses were useful for a long period and you only needed a nosebag to strap on for refuelling....

I think the weight factor is even more critical here , the thing has to get off the ground ( and stay up ). Ultimately if H2 is good for big then it's probably just as good for small. In actual fact I would argue that point for all vehicles. The battery may prove to be the carthorse.

Of course you're right Bilbs but you need the egg before you have the chicken or whichever way round. The orders will come.

But as of May this year apparently there were only 45000 electric cars in the whole of the Netherlands. It's the scale of the impending issue which holds the key. Would they cope with 450,000 using the same methods ? Then bear in mind that 450,000 is still peanuts. Re the yob issue , they don't have our lot.

Any time scale significantly short of the current petrol rate will have massive impact. Instead of an acceptable ( most of the time ) stop/start flow represented by garage forecourts, you will have what? A massive headache doesn't really cover it. It's manageable at the moment presumably because most of the very few BEV owners are green minded garage owner types. Look to the future with requirement for tens of millions and I think the word is chaos.....

I suspect that given enough demand it all starts to fall down. I also suspect , as said many many times on this board , that there will be BEV's and FCEV's. Horses for courses both in terms of customer/driver type and maybe influenced by residential area type. In terms of charging points in terraced areas and for apartment blocks I struggle to see how this will work. You will need a point by car or an evening game of musical cars will ensue. Can't see it and also can't see how this is financially viable. We already have a large part of the infrastructure/logistics for H2. Garage Forecourts. The arrival of self driving cars may reduce the number of cars on the road (although you're just putting taxi drivers out of work to an extent)but will actually increase the number of journeys. A to B to A replaced by C to A to B to D plus D to B to A to C when there's a stop at B and C/D are self drive depots. Yours , glass half empty ( it's Monday). Good week all!
