Perfectly summarized, OliGarch! And yes, Fruitster, I will concede you have made one valid point also: " they now think cwu demands are just too much and they are becoming a bit too personal/ political on this dispute and are moving away from getting the best deal within reason for employees". This comment does not fully pertain to Terry Pullinger...but it fits Dave Ward perfectly.
However, this does not alter the fact that RMG made a legal agreement with the CWU in 2018...and have now refused to fully honour it. Whether people think the 4 Pillars agreement was good, bad or indifferent the fact is that Royal Mail are the party that have broken it; I personally, at the time, thought that the "extra hour" was completely unworkable...it was obvious from my perspective on the floor that it would have involved not just the extra cost but many other "hidden, unexpected" costs also. But, still, that changes nothing. Royal Mail made an agreement...and sometime afterwards refused to fully honour that agreement.
One thing I cannot understand: why is it that the CWU have not contacted ACAS and asked for a public condemnation/statement, by themselves, regarding this failed, very much at the time, public arbitrating of the last big dispute? Surely they, ACAS, must feel let down and betrayed also?
One last comment. It would appear that the CWU are going almost exactly back down the route they marched down last time. When it, inevitably it would now seem, all ends up in the High Courts, then, if they are not very careful from here on in, they will be getting exactly the same sort of judgement against their defence, albeit perhaps on a rather different ruling, as before; I have to agree with many other commentators on this board that Mr Pullinger is already making some rather "loose" comments to say the very least.
