Welcome back Hexam - I enjoyed reading your thoughts on TUI a long while back. I'd be interested to read your assessment of CPI! I ended up selling off my entire TUI holding back on 2nd Jan, for a decent profit. Recently (last 9months) I've been accumulating holdings in BT.

JO - Naturally I do not share your confidence in AH and CPI. I think AH is taking long term holders for a ride... one which for some will prove especially costly.

Fortunately with each passing year those with ultraconservative views become ever fewer in number. We all got a taste from these recent riots what a UK governed by Farage can look like and after 14yrs of Tories appeasing the hard right we've also all seen the chaos and decay it's delivered. By the time the next GE takes place the nation will not want to go backwards. Enjoy the next 15yrs, yep... 3x Labour terms Basher ;-)

As the high street shops and offices close, what have people done?

The answer is remarkably simple... People are incredibly creative and they just move on to do something different with their free time.

After the mills came factories with engineering which became over many decades increasingly specialised; from steam trains and early 20th century cars into Aerospace and high tech car manufacturing...

After the mines, came the oil, gas and nuclear industries...

After the shipyards, came fibreglass yachts, BAE systems nuclear subs and aircraft carriers...

The demise of the high street has delivered shopping apps, distribution warehouses and courier service jobs...

Things just evolve and there's absolutely nothing you can do to stop it!

Others predicted £1... I said no way... and look where CPI is today - I simply called out the ramping, gave my evidence why and a forecast on results day.

PJT12 - I'm sure AH is buying up a large number of CPI shares, sharing lots of comms about this and encouraging fellow board members to follow in his footsteps; simply out of the goodness of his heart, and to help lift the SP for all other investors...

There's been ample + healthy growth of the 'potential customer base' here in UK Basher:

Birth rate is too low here in the UK. I.e. it makes economic sense why Tories willingly allowed more arrivals into UK. If they hadn't done so then economy would have been even worse, as fundamentally there would have been too little demand without immigration (because the UK birth rate is too low) and a loss of confidence without immigration.

The UK has lots more space, especially in Scotland! A build, build, build strategy makes sense!

So yep, he's overseen a merger and a takeover...

Seems quite blatantly obvious now why it is that CPI chose him as CEO.

I read Bharti's comment as an advocation for greater build levels - He brings experience/expertise to the table of delivering big investments in a developing nation, that'll prove invaluable in terms of driving yet more future growth. He knows, better than many the key to unlocking big sales volumes lies in having the courage to build, build, build.

Kipper9 - Well I'm a relative newcomer to investing, I only started investing in late Dec 2022. So far I've found investing in UK equities to have been rather lucrative. A lot of that success has been from rejecting the incessant ramping from certain folks... I've bought into various decent stocks at fair prices, held my nerve throughout a few periods of paper losses (TUI particularly notable) and have gone on to sell for decent profits.

This ONLY backsup/supplements my due dil." - is most interesting because I have literally quoted quality company information and I've offered reasoned analysis on the financials, including my forecast of the latest results falling flat in terms of market reaction (well worse than flat, CPI fell 12% following them)...

In my opinion AH is just selling off the few decent bits of CPI and although he might temporarily lead the SP upwards (due to seemingly good PR messaging combined with his own buying up of CPI stock) I think in the end it'll all lead to tears for LTH's because they'll be left holding many shares in a hollow and indebted business. He'll sell before the house of cards comes crashing down.

I've literally quoted AH himself... he just sold off Capita One to fund the cost cutting and investments into AI simultaneously. Another part of CPI will be up next and when he runs out of limbs/organs to sell then what will be left is a hollowed out corpse saddled with the debt from the AI misadventures.

Look AI will deliver growth long term but... many firms are getting burned from having over committed into AI because it's still in the early ish experimental/test phases.

At some point it's my opinion AH will tap shareholders, to fund these investments. I don't think the wider macroeconomic situation is going to be favourable enough for CPI to stay in business unless a takeover bid lands or a merger takes place.

Now that CPI has sold off Capita One... which profitable part of the business will AH sell off next? After all he's got big plans to fund AI development and the cost cutting will cost a bit more yet...

Earlier this year there were some comments from AK about prospect for sale of BT Ireland... does anyone know any updates on that?

I think sub £4 has been looking inevitable for a few weeks now. Anytime EZJ attempts to break higher it get hit with a wave of selling... lower oil prices and prospect of bank rate cuts were providing help upwards but it's clear the rate cuts will be limited by central banks targeting inflation which is once again drifting upwards in global turbulence... 388-392p should arrive pretty immediately if Iran goes ahead and initiates escalations in the ME.
